yo i use wavlab. ive noticed that not many people use it though.

it has everything i need. time stretch, pitch shift, auto find zero points, effects....all kinds of shit. only thing i dont think it can do is noise reduction (eg vynil groove sound)...unless you get a "plugin" whatever that is. i dont care about groove noise anyway.

wavelab is dope

i been using wavelab for a while now. best editor i have ever come across. it has everything Mr. Messenger said it has & more. word of advice, don`t limit yourself to just the main editor in wavelab. get use to using the montage, much more powerfull.

yo sacred one, you will have to read the manual on that. once you do you will see why i recommend using the montage. if you get stuck on anything i will be glad to help you out.

Hey,

The montage is sort of like a multitrack editor: you can load different clips of audio into different tracks, apply track or clip based effects on them, and mix them down to a completely new song. Wavelab has a few neat little tricks up its sleeves, like rendering new graphics which display the result of a real-time process, and it natively supports VST effects.

Oh, and it was one of the first two-track editors to support real time effects which made it such an awesome mastering program, much better than Sound Forge and Cool Edit for this.

I was never a big fan of their analysis tools, though, basic things like not being able to edit directly in a spectral view seemed a little strange for an editor which cost so much money.

Take care,

Nick

yeah the montage is a dope thing to use. i use to join the tracks of my mix cds so i dont have to perfectly mix 20 tracks in a row on my decks. i mix them a couple at a time (so i dont make a mistake on the 19th mix!) and then join the segments. works perfect

yo nas2000xl.....i found some really really soft samples which id like to get rid of the vynil groove sound. do you have the noise gate plugin? if so, is it dope? and can i get it off the net?

yea mr.messenger i have the vst denoiser & declicker & noisegate. yo best i`ve ever used. it don`t give any artifacts like the other plugins, like for example raygun does. i do beleive you can find it on the net.

i only have the NOISE GATE. but the noise gate works on a thresh hold setting and will therefor probably eliminate the soft sounds of my sample ASWELL as the vynil groove noise.

is the denoiser or declicker better? which do you use for this job nas2000xl?

ive been advised to use cool edit to do noise reduction and wavlab for everything else. apparently cool edit doesnt allow you to use more than a couple of effects at a time. im getting cool edit in a couple of days then ill have both

Hey,

You can load as many effects into CEP as you like in the multitrack, they run in realtime.

Wavelab is MUCH better at this than CEP, though, and is something to consider when choosing between the two.

Take care,

Nick

Hey,

Yes, it comes a full suite of powerful restoration tools, like noise/hiss reduction, click/pop removal and click restoration. To get that with Wavelab you have to buy a third party plugin, like RayGun or Sonic Foundry's Noise Reduction.

Cool Edit is one of the favorite editors in the audio restoration community because of this, as well as being able to work directly in a spectral view, which to my knowledge no other software in its class can do....this includes Wavelab and Sound Forge.

Take care,

Nick
