Whats the best wave editor to get out of cool edit and soundforge? I'll be wanting to edit/chop up drum loops and record MC's on it.

I never used soundforge but Cool Edit will do the job good.

I own both soundforge and cool edit. I usually prefer sound forge over cool edit for sampling and for adding loop points to oneshot samples.

personally, i prefer soundforge over cool edit pro.
by the way - the new soundforge version 7.0 is marketed as Sony SoundForge.
Sonic Foundry sold themselves :barf:

Hey,

1. Goldwave is not free, it costs $42.00:

2. Cool Edit and Sound Forge do the same thing, they edit audio files. The advantage Cool Edit has over Sound Forge is that it comes with a multitrack editor...you won't be able to record and mix your beats with your MC in Sound Forge as it is only a two-track editor.

3. Sonic Foundry had to sell themselves as the company was slowly going under due to bad business management during the dot com thing a few years ago. You will notice that ALL the major players have 'sold out' during the past year: Emagic to Apple, Syntrillium to Adobe, Sonic Foundry to Sony, Steinberg to Pinnacle, and Cakewalk are partnering with Roland.

Take care

If you actually are looking for free shit - then checkout this site....ive been using this editer for days now and it does jus what you want if your jus cuttin samples and nothing more - though tha new version out very soon should have all kinds of cool feature that you commonly see in soundforge and such. Anyway, its nothing fantastic buts solid when running and its free.

Use a version that isnt a beta though - those ones always tend to freeze or some shit.
