Video Editing Help

so I'm tryin to learn video editing right? I'm usin adobe premiere and I'm messin wit Windows Movie maker. Problem is, my PC freezes when usin the editors. I have a Gig of ram, on XP Pro and a 3.2CPU(hyperthreaded),,,that shouldnt be happenin,,,,what am I doi wrong? I have ,my settings for best optimized use as well.

the best thing to do is make sure you absolutely no other programs running while using these, especially premiere. Im working on some shit with that too and i cant run that program with others running. i would suggest getting a program called END IT ALL. what it does is closes all programs that you dont need for windows to work properly, inturn gives all cpu usage to one program like premiere or windows movie maker, also a good thing to do is hit ctrl + alt + del and click the processes tab, then right click on premeire or movie maker and set the priority to high, this will make your cpu use the majority of its ram and speeds for the one program, hope that works for ya, good luck
