you say you dont have much equipment? What do yo currently have? If you have a computer and a keyboard, thats more than enough to do make industry standard material!
As to the question about getting the vibe, just jam on your board and mess with whatever comes. If you got a block, step away from the keys, go listen to some good music, or practice your playing skills. Or go to the park play some ball, something different from making beats, then come back. Everyone gets block, even the pros. If you can find something that resolves that block quickly, then you're good to go.
What i find works with me all the time is, i just make a type of beat i would not normally make. Use some weird sounds you wouldn't normally use and just have fun with it. Forget about trying to make the greatest beat the world has ever heard, just have fun with it. You will often end up making something dope, despite having started out all weird.
