Upgrading My Setup

Ok so I rap but I don't make beats. For the past few years I have been using a Radioshack mic just plugged directly into my cpu with an adapter. I am looking to upgrade my hardware so that my vocals will come out a lot nicer. I am trying to keep my budget around $700-1000 total. What I need to know, is what should I upgrade and what is most important? I was thinking mic and preamp, anything else? And if thats all..what mic, what preamp? Thanks in advance.

Aight I'm probably going to get this. Is the ProTools software going to be easy enough that I can lace up my vocals over beats nicely without knowing the program much at first?

Pro tools is really userfriendly and the M-box is a great piece. It has a really nice Ad-da coverter. For those of you who doens't know what that is it's the coverter that coverts analog signal to digital. And that's really important.

But don't underestimate the use of a preeamp. I think you'll need that aswell. I'd say that a good preeamp and Ad-Da coverter is more important than a good mic.

So get yourself the M-box and a preeamp

Yeah the M-Box has a focusrite pre amp if there like the ones on the 002r, you might want to get some type of stand alone pre (eg. ART, real good and reasonably priced). So i would say definetly say soundcard M-Box but get the M-Box 2, a pre amp, and mic. PZ
