Turntables to PC article question

Once I have my turntable hooked up to my laptop through the line in and i am getting sound through my speakers...What would be the best way to record to my hard drive??

To do what? Just sample? Or record a whole record?

Mostly just sampling, would it be different if i was going to record a whole album? what software to use isnt the issue, i guess i dont know what settings i have to change cause i cant just record and have it work.

It doesn't really matter, but something like Adobe Audition, Soundforge, etc is fine. You're able to hear the sound but not record anything? What about your Windows mixer?

yea i was using audition to record, i could hear over my speakers just fine, but it wouldnt record when i would try, i checked my windows mixer and the only thing selected to record was the microphone so i switched it to line in, hopefully that will help

Yeah it should be Line for recording, it should work fine now.
