Turntable Set Up Question

alright since im fairly new to turntables i wanna ask a question that i cant find anywhere ive looked...so just ahead of yall sayin look on google shit


anyway i just got my turntable its a Stanton Str8-50 and the cartridge/needle is a Discmaster II (if u need that info lol)....anyway i set the shit up my homie brought his mixer over its a numark and looks a lil old school but it works, i can post pics if yall need....but im just wondering wat should i do to record the lps i want to the computer, do i need a soundcard or wat?\

yea if you don't have a sound card get one get like a m-audio sound card for like 100 dollars or less. once you get that hooked up what type of program are you going to sample into.

Yeah you'll need an audio program to record into. One of the easiest ones is Cool Edit since your starting out. You'll need a decent soundcard (soundcard that came with your computer wont do). Like x-squizet said, get an M-audio card or something along the lines of that an you should be set.

yea ill probably be on my Acid pro 4.0 or Cool Edit most likely cool edit cause my soundforge is fuckin up bad lol....plus i now how to cut samples better on the Cool Edit, but u kno i couldnt get the sounds i wanted from ******** so i said fuck that shit i have vinyl i just need to save for a turntable and i did..

hey shotgun I see you took my advice and came over to this board where the pros are!! Anyway I just followed your footsteps got a turntable just for sampling its a gemini XL 120 MK II and picked up a lil behringer Eurotrack MX 602a... I talked to one of my homies and he also used sound forge to record into ill probably go that route as well.. this is how I have it... Turntable>mixer>external sound card > comp I also have my fostex 4 track hooked up to the mixer for sampling tapes...
