Are you just gonna use it for sampling or are you gonna be scratching too? I love my old 1200's and I highly recommend them for scratching, but there are now some other turntables by Vestax and Numark that are up there with the technics. If you're just sampling you could get away with a lower priced TT, but make sure you get a good cartridge and needle. Search the threads, I'm sure you'll find plenty of info and debates about tables.

I got some stylus's (.... styli?.... styluseses? anyway...) to sell, if you wanna replace it. For the most part, most of the older ones are universal. That'll most likely solve your problem. Sometimes, you need a phono-preamp for them, and if you dont have one and you jack up the levels to compensate, it'll sound like crap.

Oh, and if you're going to sample off vinyl, and you take yourself seriously, get a decent turntable. Don't use the old school joints for that... they all have different sounds to them, and they usually suck.... all bass heavy, and midranges dipping and stuff.

The buzz is 'cause your grounding cable isn't wrapped around your grounding screw. That'll remove it and get a new cartridge, if nothing else, the stylus is probably worn down after all the years so definitely change that.
