Are there any good accurate tuners that are either free or come included in DAWs?

I'm using Sonar 8 at the moment, and I the tuner I've got GTune (or something) isn't good at picking up quick signals such as drums.

Trying to think of what DAW I should switch to next, tough choice. Any thoughts?

Melodyne DNA will show you each note on anything you run though it...Drums, keys, bass whatever! It will even show you each note of a chord.

All of these are free and can do what you want. Not need to hunt for a DL either

I've used Gtune for that exact purpose myself also

He's gonna have the same problem, all of them will go through the notes too fast. MeldaProductions has a free analyzer that will show you the predominate note of each frame but thats kinda useless as well. The only thing I've seen that will show each and every note accurately is Melodyne. They didn't show it on the video but that grid behind the notes shows each note on the left side when it breaks the sample down.

He also said free. Like Ive said Ive done it, you watch it and write it down. It doesnt go that fast lol If you really cant catch it, down pitch it -12 so it sustains longer.

I'm mainly looking for something that can catch the note my drums are playing. 'Cause I'm going to start tuning them. And I find (at the moment) unless it's a blatant 808 with a long tail, it's not so easy to pick out the pitch of my drum hits.

Thanks so far, brethren. I'ma check those things out.

No doubt, I'm only offering info on the right tool for the job. How much you pay for something really depends on where you shop, plus I don't assume your financial situation. Most people don't tune their drums (to that extent), and if this is something you're considering, I'm guessing that you're getting serious about your music. Serious tasks require serious tools. I've used GTune and others just like it for a while and NOTHING comes close to what Melodyne does in my experience. Good luck.

I sure am getting serious about my music.

Shadowed a few top engineers and got some tips from them.

Looking to make myself a summing box. I just need to find funding to buy new equipment. I'm at that stage where I'm ready to step up a level, and to do that is going to require some upgrading!!! (And a lot of dough)

And let me say, Melodyn is the photoshop of pitch and manipulations, I was screaming melodyn when everyone else was on autotune. Im not trying to discredit it. It will always get a recommendation from me. But he just needs, and asked, for something to analyze the note of something, that was free. Not a granddaddy master tool that has alot of extra features.

What I posted will get what he needs done with little to no CPU foot print, and no searching for the warez version, and only 1 legal download. I already said how to get the kick to sustain longer, or you can turn down the tempo and solo the kick. Theres alot of ways around it. But melodyn is way overkill, both the search for, the DL, and the learning. Your time is better spent learning how to pick out/work out the note by ear. Thats what a serious producer and engineer would be focusing on. Doesnt take long either.

True! I'm doing it and I've talked with a few others on here that are going through this transition as well. For me, it's just time to step it up...I'm good with the next level VST's, I need to work more on the hardware side now.
