ok, i have no idea wtf is wrong here.

i am using an imac g4 with apple pro speakers.

my problem is that sometimes i'll notice my music sounds funny. so i go into my sound system prefs and sure enough the speaker balance is all fucked up. it's either shifted left or right.

so i set it back to the middle. then maybe a couple days later i'll notice there's somethin wrong again. sometimes i just check for the hell of it, and sure enough there is is again, all fucked up and shifted one way or another.

now i know there aren't many mac users here, but DOES ANYONE HAVE AN IDEA?! cuz i am motherfuckin stumped.

What about the music-playing software you use (winamp? or iTunes or whatever) is it defaulted to channel left or right? maybe it's overriding the Mac OS balance settings....

Winblows Media Player does that to me constantly.

Maybe so...

i use itunes, and i thought about that. but i've looked, and i can't seem to find a control for it anywhere. and it doesn't happen every time i use itunes. so unless it's just certain songs that do it? i dunno.

You can adjust/mute the iTunes volume by using the keyboard. To increase the volume: Press Command – Up Arrow. To decrease the volume: Press Command – Down Arrow. To mute iTunes: Press Option – Command – Down Arrow.
I'm not sure how to "lock" the volume feature in iTunes, but I'd suggest not using it's volume control if it gets really annoying. Use the main OS volume settings instead to adjust your stuff...or try these links...

By the way, are those Harman Kardon speakers really good enough to mix and master your songs with? Wow... I have trouble with my speaker system, Altec-Lansing 5.1 surround sound. I opted for best when I bought the computer, but surround sound is bad for music unless you're utilizing the surround feature. It's constantly confusing the shit out of me, and not to whine about it, but it messed up my kick drum in my BeatThis competetion. I adjusted my subwoofer levels before I started my beat and forgot about it, and what SOUNDED like a nice kickdrum level was hardly audible, in actuality.

I miss my headphones.... *sniff*
