Hip Hop used to have soul. Now, it all feels sterile and programmed.
The influence of the digital revolution on something that used to be so organic and pure really frustrates me. There used to be a skill and craft to beat production that is sorely missing today. These technological advances have certainly helped to make the medium more accessible, but it has also diluted the art.
Everyone makes beats now. Everyone knows a producer.
It is great that a whole new generation has embraced this once limited art form, but with more artists comes more repetition and emulation. The medium is stagnant.
I produce based on traditional methods: Everything recorded live with no computer assistance.
Analog will save your life.
