Too Much of a Good Thing?

In my recent beats, I've been using alot of piano and guitar leads. Does anybody think that this takes from the overall creativity or uniqueness of ones' music, or is it neccesary for good consistant compositions?

Questions #2: Does anybody have any suggestions for other types of instruments that do well or are versatile?

i dont think it takes from the creativity at all, if anything, it encourages it because those same instruments have been used several billion times.

as for suggestions for other types of instruments, there's always synths. many modern day composers are really taking synth work to the next level now as they also did way back in the 70s.

just feel free to explorer and do what you enjoy.

Yeah man... synths. Then I could also say

Fender Rhodes
Strings (depending on the specific sound of the string... not a long one, with a slow attack...

But the piano is definitely THE most versatile instrument there is...

Its good to have those two instruments. you can also try horns, strings, maybe sampling. all other sounds as well. as long as its sonically sound then you're alright.

horns are good if you layer them. one instrument i like is layering a horn like a french horn with various string soundfonts/patches and have them play one melody. it's a nice sound imo.

i have been using the marimba a lot lately alot of chimes and bells and 808 shit wit strings, try using like a nice organ or wurlitzer piano with some horns and a sliding bass i can go on and on
