Are the speakers against the wall ? How far are they from the wall ? Tried placing them further from the wall ?

Room treatment wont do as much for the low frequencies and the same goes for bass traps if the speakers are larger then necessary compared to the roomsize. Leaving those factors out leaves you with speakerplacement. You can use an eq but preferably not unless were talking PA here but then your room would have the size of a small live venue (lol).

And yeah, get some decent monitors lol.

also i might add. (i know this is an older post, well not that old) some auralex mopads under your monitors will cut out the rattling against your desk. thats what i use. im am gonna have to try that 3 step program youre talking bout LDB cus i usually layer all my drums.

Thanks for all the help fam. I'm gonna try out some of the techniques here and in the meantime put money aside every month for some good monitors, hopefully by 2010!
