When doing a "bridge" after the second hook/chorus what is the key to that?
Meaning, how far up should you move on the scales to make the music have that "bridge" sound?
What chords are best?..And if one were going to the bridge on an mpc say...

Okay so Im playing chords I have sampled to my pads and the sequence is comming out great and I now need to make a bridge sequence.. Does anyone have any advice on where to play that part on the pads? Say like 2 rows up?
I dont know if Im making myself clear on this.
I know it all depends on what "sounds" best as well.
Just looking for tips

Cant say much on the mpc side. But most bridges actually keep the song in the same key. Some do change, but I think Class can elaborate better on that one as I am not sure of the theory behind it.

For instance the bridge I did for this song,

Kept everything in the same key, just used different chords. In a scale you have 7 main chords. If we are in the key of C for instance, you might be playing a C-F-G pattern. Now I don't have my keyboard here so not sure how good this would sound, but you might move away from that C-F-G and now do Am-Em-Dm(repeat) then have a F at the end that will take you back to your original C-F-G for the chorus or verse.

Hope that makes sense.

Listen to songs with a bridge and emulate it! I don't think there's a "set" way to do a bridge other than the length. Some songs just simply drop certain instruments out at the bridge and the vocalist changes his/her tone and sings about something totally diff't for 4 bars or so. Break down the instrumentation for each part of that song. Listen to what they use for the body(verse) and chorus and then listen to what changes they make at the bridge. Unless you know music theory, hearing the music knowledge behind it won't do much for you. I play by ear so "theory" is Chinese to me!

When it comes to bridges, thats where you can get real creative. Like LDB said, when i come across a bridge, I just maybe change a drum pattern, drop the bass for a bar or two, I don't think there is a "set rule". Just be creative, go by ear. Don't worry about "theory" and what not, just be creative and do you.
