Also, what I love to do is after I've done my chopping, I take certain sample say, the guitar bass in it, copy it eq all the highs out of it until all I have is just the bass. Then, any samples that have high freqs like horns or voices or junk like that and filter out all the lows. Then I reassemble the samples. Basically, I tear a sample down and then rebuild it back up again to a much better joint. kinda like "extreme home makeover"! LOL!! I don't do all my joints this way. it just depends on the sample and the elements within it. Oh, I never sample from just one record either. I take the Hank Shockley approach.

Hank Shockley! Check out Da Bomb Squad reference. NICE!

the way i do it
is i chop what is gonna be on my kick
chop what is gonna be on my snare
and i could be indifferent sound too!!
it doesn't matter!! as long as my chops for the kick are for the kicks
and my chops for the snare are for the snare
and waaaaaaaaaaalaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!
it s to gether!!! i know it sound wierd!!!
but then of course i layer!!!
man i love to layer!!!
my drumz are always layered!!!! always!!!!
and my sample are sometimes layered with a low pass
so then i have a high pass on the sample controlling the highs
and the low pass controlling the lows of the sample!!
after the base of it is done
then i had more chops to fill in the blacks
or make a chorus or ect.!!
much respect!
hope thats helpfully!!
