PT is the shit.... But Logic is coming through with some great shit....

Went to a studio the other day where they were running only logic 9 64bit...

Looks pretty good..

But PT9 is sure to be completely awesome...as PT 8 was lovely.

In the very near future, you will not be able to get PT at all with the purchase of a mbox. So if you've purchased a mbox, your best bet is to pay the $250 for PT9, if you haven't you will have to pay $599 for it.

Any time frame into how long the mbox will be sold with PT8?

Until they sell out. Any new ones shipped from AVID are without PT8.

Yup, until Sweetwater runs out of what they have in stock. I don't know the exact number but they've assured me that when they reorder the next batch of mbox's, they will not have Pro Tools with them. I'm gonna go ahead and fork out the $250 in a couple of weeks.

oh for sure. I see what you mean. I had DV tool kit so I could just do it. But honestly I have been moving away from Pro tools. I will always keep it around because for 90% of the studio jobs I do I need to know it.

Why would anyone buy an mbox without PT?

i've had pt9 for about a month now...you really need to make the switch if you have 8 le. being able to mix on my laptop on campus at school with just an ilok is really indispensable. if you travel a lot, this thing will change your LIFE! hahah.

Version I have doesn't require an iLok...I like my USB slots too much. I have the 8LE downloaded from avid.com. I'll just keep that for a while before I make that switch.
