The use of midi pads for drums

Wassup gang , it's been a while since I wrote (but I've been visiting ). Quick question here to all the producers here who don't use an MPC, what's you recipe for creating drum patterns?

I feel like it's a bit unnatural to just draw some hihats on my sequencer or just pressing on my keyboard and recording some kicks and snares.I feel I could come up with some real funky beat ideas just by taping on some pads.

I'm looking at buying that M-AUDIO trigger finger .

I use keys personally.. started on Mpc and triton and i just felt the keys better

Akai MPD16 is all good. the pads arent quite as soft as mpc but do the job just as well.
