i just wanted to introduce myself, my name is jay aka jayblaze. i been workin wit beats for about ten years now, started out wit the lil roland beat machine, then i flipped to the roland groove box, then i flipped to the korg trinity. im about to purchaase a roland xp80 or the fantom. im also workin with the mpc2000xl, i just got it, i think this is gone be my favoriate peace to work wit. as soon as i figure out how to get some samples of what i do on here they will be on here for err body to check em out, i go from r&b to rap to rock and roll, i know thats a crazy combination but hay, being different makes the money.

i have my own camp, we are called the Terror Unit, and yes we had the name before the G Unity its just they got on. i rap, and drop beats, i often write as well. i have five rappers, a male singer and a female singer\rapper.

im glad i got on illmuzik, it looks like some things be goin down in here thats what i like hiopefully i get to meet some people i was gone jump in this months competition but i read through the rules i dont have enough posts or what eva so maybe next time,

hey, given that fantoms are so cheap now i would advise to go for the fantom over the xp 80. i just sold mine a few months ago and while it was a good board the fantom is a SERIOUS upgrade over it, as well as several of the newer modules/keyboards. the motif rack was what i replaced it with and i coulnt be happier with the results from it. i would get the fantom if i were you, but it is your call, just lookin out.

Welcome to the site. That's some years you've been doing beats...

Pity about your camp's name...with known names like G-Unit and Terror Squad already out there...but hey, who really cares as long as the music rocks.

I hope you enjoy your stay.

its not that the xp 80 is bad, but when the bigger, better, badder brother is around for a good price, why waste your time? i mean there are options besides the fantom, but it comes down to personal taste after that.

Hey,

I'll second Truth's choice for the Fantom. My first multitimbral sound module was the JV-2080, which is like the XP-80 except it has another effect slot, more JV-card expandability, no sequencer and no keyboard.

While I love this thing to death and use it all the time, the Fantom SMOKES it in just about every category, except price.

If you already have a sequencer and keyboard, why not go for a sound module instead of another keyboard? It will cost much less and take up less room in your studio.

Take care,

Nick
