Good Thread Guevara! OK my first choice is myself for obvious reasons...lol. OK, seriously, Here's how I see it, the word "BEST" has to cover several topics. Not just "best" beat maker or "best" lyricist or winning the most "beat this" comps but attitude, participation and assertiveness mean alot in my opinion.

My choice at the moment would have to be...(drum roll)...Afriquedeluxe!
The reasn I choose AFD or ADP is because he is a positive kid that makes sick beats, he's always giving good advice and he answers threads on a regular basis. I see the hunger in his post and eventhough he's not working with some of the more elaborate setups that I've seen on here he does his thing with what he has. He doesn't *itch about what he doesn't have yet or make any excuses, he just does his thing. I saw that he was working on another project and when I asked him about it, he said that he wanted to get on their CD. He's putting forth an effort to make moves. I got mad respect for that.

And One more thing, I edited this post after reading WOA's response. I feel the same way but my choice and opinion comes from what I see...that means no disrespect to all the other cats out there making HOT beats.

Guevara, i'm sorry, but i shall not answer this question as i avoid such topics. i haven't heard all the tracks that a certain producer has to offer; thou has to acknowledge that most producers keep their best beats to themselves, and do not publish them on the web. thus, i can't really judge had i heard all of their offerings. plus, there are so many talented individuals around here, that it's impossible to judge who's the best of the best. that's just my humble opinion.

I agree with wings, but if i had to make a choice, i would go along with Dac, Afrique, although he types in the most annoying way ever, he makes sick (not really my style) beats, on a limited budget, that sound polished and proffesionally produced, i aint heard that many tracks of his, but they is all nice....

I think it's good question but I have heard hot production from more than a few cats on here so I definitely don't have a who is best right now because I don't always agree on what's really considered a winner or a hot beat, I wouldn't let the beat comp be my guide to considering the hottest or best.....

yeah, this is a tough one, but.....

i am just partial to guervara's style..... i always loved that soul sound. i have a much higher appreciation for sampling on a pc, because i could chop something up in my mpc no problem, but using software it just hasnt been that easy for some reason, and he just uses cakewalk and the same damn snare everytime but its always dope.... (usually!)

and afrique... damn, what can i say? kid is nice, especially for his age and gear? look out for when he gets some better gear people... and
learns that guitar his pics always show him playing!

and in the end i have to agree with wings. we havent heard everything everyone has to offer- but overall this is who i am feeling the most and has the best chance of blowing up in my eyes.

I think the beats afrique made for those first two comps he won were overrated. Not bad but not the best in the comp. That one he did w/ G-Matrix was dope as shit though.

that guitar comp was really too close to call..... i had the priveledge of voting on that one, and there were 3 legitimate contenders to win, and they all were deserving. brain took it though.....

as far as af's comp tracks being overated...... maybe they were, maybe not- the kid is sick with his and is just a pup, and likely has less knowledge and certainly less experience and gear than a lot of us and he rocks it at a high level anyways. even if they are overated or whatever- in 5 years his name will be known by more than just his illmuzik fam, thats for certain. now if we cud jus fix dat typin of his.. (LOL)

i think that streetwise is damn good as well....
