The Lox vs. Puffy

Recently, I was disturbed to hear the Hot 97 interview with the Lox (Hot97.com still got em). They were discussing how Puff owns all their publishing - whenever they make a song or album, Puff gets paid. What do you guys think? They put themselves in the position when they first signed but 10 years of them cats slaving makes me wonder about some people man. And he got B.I.G.'s publishing too - that dude has a mom, and kids.

I'm like man....10 years for the LOX and BIG's family don't see no publishing money.....that's heartless to me. On the business side man.....Puff's perspective is probably that he has an asset thats giving him great returns every year. Would anyh man give that up? Even if you are a multimillionaire? What are your opinions?

Good for Diddy to sucker someone into deal like that but bad for the artist. That is why BAD Boy is on a decline but it seems like Diddy makes more money that's why beware of the rape as the LOX once said

Jadakiss was on point. He signed the contract so the responsibility falls on him, at the same time Puffy intentionally f!cked them.

Jadakiss said, "it's worth dying over, it's worth killing over."

If I was in his shoes either Puffy or I would be dead.

Puffy is a greedy f!ck. That sh!t makes me sick. He gets rich off of claiming him and Biggie were f!cking tighter than sh!t Why does he still have Big's publishing, releasing the duets album and all that.

That sh!t is just real sick, it's disturbing to know that people are so greedy.

It's like Fat Joe screaming Big Pun forever on all his songs, meanwhile the Rios family is struggling to eat.

F!ck Puff. Even if you say it's good for him on some cutthroat business shit, that shit is still wrong.

This is situation is a pefect example of Busniess VS ethic's

You can major in stuff like this, law schools have a busniess ethic's programs. Entire volumes have been written on this subject...
What puffy did was sound bunsiess wise, but was it ethical?

This is a question that most of the coporate world has to deal with...
Welcome to the real world folks...

class....

The Lox definitely have to take some responsibility for the deal they signed (and they do), but Puffy's a snake....true story. He rapes everyone. Did you hear the girls from the Making the Band show on Hot 97. Everybody was calling in abusing them for trying to get signed by Puffy, and of course they defended him. But I mean who does he still have...
Just Black Rob. He dropped everyone else. And what about "Da Band"? Ever since the show ended...so did they. Remember how popular Chopper was...supposedly DTP wanted him....why do you think he still aint put nothin out? He was popular as hell. I would bet money that Puffy somehow or another has him in the same kind of trap as the Lox. I don't know for sure but if I was a bettin man...I'd put money on it.

Yeah....I listened to the Puffy side.....in terms of damage control and controlling public perception....I give Puff a 9/10...I thaught there was no coming back from the heartfelt pleas of Jada and Styles. I mean on a bigger issue....most of us would have been happy if they were in puff's shoes.....who wouldn't want to own the rights to jada's voice? However, we as black people need to watch out for each other I think (back to business vs. ethics that was brought up earlier).

From what Puff presented.....I don't see a problem with the business move (20% returns from your initial investment! Thats Warren Buffet type numbers.) I invest in the market as it is....don't tell me one day you want your stuff back I put money into, and we got a contract. However, it makes you think that if we were white....would we have slaved black people? Would u pass that up? Where does it end? I agree....capitalism does destroy art.

Well put. I personally believe in the goodness of people and HOPE that one day we (hip hop culture in general) will stop acting like crabs in a boiling pot of water. All we do is pull eachother down trying to get out the pot.

They knew they signed a bad contract and therefore shouldn't complain about it , simple as that ....

Man if they knew they were signing a bad contract they wouldnt have signed it. Not many people would knowingly walk into such a situation.
