the HIGHS and LOWS of producing

I think creative highs and lows are a part of production. Remember what you did to get out of those creative lows and don't take the fact that you're at a creative high for granted.

My lows were wenn I was actualy busy spending more time spinning D&B instead of producing, thats about 6/7 years ago. My high came back like 5 years ago when D&B releases started to suck bigtime and turned into a mainstream phenomenom. I started getting back into the underground hiphop and local hiphop activities. The best high is when I just started out at 12 and in being a kid you have the best creativity, discovering synthesis, midi and producing. I still envy getting that modus back but it's a phase and onfortunatly that will not happen. I also wish I had the gear I have now back then.

i been makin beats now for about a year i gutta say all my low points were at the beginning when i had no idea about the slightest concept of makin beats i woulda been better off if i knew about this forum but ive had some his within the past couple of months like going from looping samples in acid to buying reason to giving fl studio a chance and realizin its really good id say im at my prime right now cuz i learn a lot from this forum i might not post a lot because im stil llearning myself but i sure do read a lot here and ive been practicing literally every single day since i know i wont have nearly as much time to work on beats when i go back to school on the 20th

hold up hold up... i see it like this... the highs will be the times when ur producing tracks that all seem hott... the lows are the highs for me i just see it as my mind telling me to take a break and absorb some of the events going on around me... another thing... i get caught up in my music and there are period when i produce 3 tracks a day and there have been weeks when i was sick of looking at Reason or FL Studio... and during the supposed low times, i get caught up on the internet , TV, movies, CD designs (a good way to stay productive and still be within the music) and sampling...

I feel yall about finding your style. I have been at a creative low lately. I have been putting together cookie cutter tracks just to sell. I listen to some of my old beat tapes done on a DR 202 and realized they are waaay better than most of the stuff i'm doing now. So I guess that's my low point.

usaully the earlier tracks are at the pinacle of creative juices. and everything after that seems to be a play off of tracks that u have already produced. as for me it seems as tho ill latch onto a particular style for awhile and when i get tired of that i usually stumble onto another avenue of producing techniques incorporated with methods i have already learned. Taking breaks helps and reveiwing tracks from the past is cool to just as long as your taking wut werked and wut didnt werk and use them to your benefit. By all means dont get too caught up into tracks u made in the past or soon enuff they will all start sounding exactly alike and thats never good.

i'm not as concerned with duplicating the tracks as much as i am with the zone i was in when i did them. i know i had a lot more lady friends back then. maybe that has something to do with it. :lick:
