they say that the group of great rappers usually come in 4's. First it was Rakim, Kane, KRS, and LL. the next was Biggie, Pac, Nas and Jigga. Who's the next four.
P.S. I dont think Eminem counts because he's so different. its like comparing apples and oranges.

I have to definitely agree, I mean Eminem is sort of like a Vanilla Ice that made it, because he had better marketing, an audience that was not really completely inner city but huge pockets to buy his shidd and go to the tour and buy his shidd and then the people that wanted to hate but still bought his shidd, and oh yeah a producer with a very good plan and already established record.(enter Dre).......other than that I don't know whether there are any real qualifiers to put him in one of those groups of 4 you are speaking about.....those groups had substance and authentic hip hop appeal and realism not a lot of frills and being accepted by the mainstream, Eminem was the example of a cheap hip hop knock off trying to imitate that benefitted from some heavy guerilla marketing, videos, the internet and mainstream media acceptance to rubberstamp him as #1 based upon $$$$ signs and sales...LOL

Well in my opinion eminem is white but he's gettin heavy rotation underground now that he's got 50 under him....believe it or not by him signing 50 he's got more hard core gangsta rappers listening to eminem becasue em is featured on alot of underground tracks with 50 on some real gangsta sheeit which is different from his usual u know.....so its safe to say that em could be considered one of the next 4 greats because he is so versatile with his flow and he can adapt to his environment.....one thing i havent herd from em yet is a female singer male rapper love song lol....50's a G and he's got one...21 questions, i wonder why em aint hop on that yet?

the next 4 greats could be Eminem.....50 cent.....and 2 others i guess! and i base my answers off of street creditability alone....cause if the hood loves u your a great in my hood

50? great at what? mumbling? there really isnt an actual candidate for something like this. jay actually blew up after pac and big passed, so he really belongs to the current era as well..... i think that these greats have emboddied so much more in their music then what 50 or em or luda offer. pac, big, jay and nas have much more substance then the current crop of mc's that are large at the moment..... outkast, andre is most definetly among the best ever, creatively, lyricly, 5 albums deep......even the new one (although VERY odd) and then you have guys like mos and kweli who could be in this category if they like 2 more albums under their belt..... but really its just outkast and jay z for this era, but they come from the early/ mid 90's, so i expect taht the next so-called "greats" will solidify their status 2-3 years from now.

All I can do is laugh at this ....... No need to comment because all it will do is cause a debate and (you know what forget it) you know how certain moderaters want a candy coated opinion. I want to give it to ya'll raw and uncut but I don't want to be bothered with warnings and slaps on the wrist like I'm in Catholic School. I'm a grown man and I always thought that men can speak the real and still respect brutal honesty but too many sensitive men reside in this forum. If this offends you then your what I speak of. I know I'm off topic, but I had to vent a little.

It doesn't really matter what any of you think about an artists skills. Cause if you want to go that route eminem will rip them all to peaces including pac and biggie, i mean imagine pac vs eminem in a battle , thats no contest.

But skills don't really define being the dopest am I right? So what is considered to be the greatest? it is record sales and skills. The more the record sells the more fans. If the artist is able to hold his own and represent his skills the better he is going to be respected in hip hop.

So at the moment i would have to say yes eminem is one of the best right now. I would add ludacris to that list too. Both have nice skills and mic presence. They can perform and rock a show. They also relate to millions of hip hop fans which is probably the nail in the coffen when it comes to being the best mc out. They also sell a ish load of records.

I wouldn't add 50 cent yet because this is his first major release. If his next 3 releases are as big or near as big as "get rich or die trying" i would definetly add him to the list.

Eminem and ludacris for sure are the best right now. Anyone would like to add to this list?

Mad, what's up? Don't tell me there's ANOTHER problem now. Like I mentioned in that other thread, you can say what you want because that's what forums are for, but as long as you get your point across and follow the rules, that's all. :)

Hey I ain't gonna start no contraversy but I mean there are SOOOOO many underground freestylez that never made it above ground from Biggie and Pac that Eminem probably studied man...hahaha.....but I mean by you saying Eminem would rip them you have to be on crack man........I mean they came up thru the underground having to rip the best and I will not say that Eminem ever had an underground circuit full....and I mean full of hot lyracists and freestylers as NY and East coast in the early to mid 90's.....someone help this man out .....making ignorant statements based on some radio songs they had out like biggie give me 1 more chance or Pac on dear momma you must really have not been out much........EMINEM is some shidd....

man great artists touch on more levels than just a freestyle, just the streets, just raw lyrics, just social awareness, just the clubs, just.... no one out right now embodies more than one or two things; what made pac and big great was the fatc that on ANY level, the would bring it- stories, clubs, anthems, lyrics, social isues, life issues, street level, freestyle..... they hit on all cylinders like no one else has before or since, with very few even approaching the influence/status/skills/charisma/intelligence/marketablility/and well roundedness that they brought...... the early fathers didnt bring it like they brought it, and no one since has brought it like that..... and even then, true greatness defines itself...... no one out toay has those qualities all in one package....

By first stating you want no controversy then calling someone is on crack totally contridicts yourself. Then by attacking ones own history of music on the internet is pretty lame of you kid.

First of all im not basing this on hit singles, have you ever heard a pac or biggie freestyle? or battled? and if you have do you honestly believe they can beat eminem in a battle? dog what are you smoking? where you high or on acid when you typed that? i don't think you have ever heard enimen freestyle or battle. He is considered one the best battle mc's today.

By the way there are way more battle mc's out today than the early 90's. If you want history kid, many east coast rappers from NY didn't even freestyle they had pre written raps. The west coast started this whole thing of "off the dome" get your shit straight then get back at me.

Ive heard eminem battle straight off the dome yes i know he has kicked lines he used before in other battles but that comes natual. Don't get me wrong pac and biggie are great artists but to claim they are battle type mc's is just wrong. You owe then an apology.

Ok em vs Pac, Pac would lyrical bitch slap Em in a record war there still is yet to be disses colder than what Pac put on Big on the rest of his advesaries so yes this is a no contest. Em vs Big, everyone knows freestylin was Big's thing em couldnt see Big in a battle through a macintosh, zenith or RCA. I think alot of people hoped on Eminem just like they did for Vanilla Ice, from where I stand as an mc myself I see Em as being able to put together multiple rhymes and and having a unique style but as far as content goes:finger: he often annoys me with all that talk about things he aint capable of "Dont let me confuse you Im not tryin to loose you when I let loose with this Uzi and shoot through your Isuzu". The reason why he is so successful is simple you may not like it but its a simple equation (White rapper + ability to rhyme + established lable+ excellent marketing=$$$$$$$$$) Eminem is ok in my opinion but there are a shitload of slept on MC's that are lightyears ahead (Cannibus,Kurupt,Crooked I, Nas, Ras Kas) the thing that seperates what we consider legends (Big,Pac,Big Pun, Jay (etc)) from the mc's that we label good rappers (Eminem, 50,Obie,Nelly,Luda,Chingy) is for one you it seems as if you always gotta be dead to be a legend and the people that we consider legends put their lives into their music and try to touch people with their art.

I couldn't help myself by saying I won't start a contraversy, because the statement you made was what set it off...........as far as off the dome battle rapping starting on the West coast come on man?...what year diid this happen? you can even search the internet for a few freestyles from BiG and Pac I actually have some of the old school underground ish..(also as for the apology I owe them???? you are still basing your knowledge of Big and Pac as not being battle rappers or capable of head to head off the dome ish because of maybe basing it on what they did as above ground artists for record labels instead of what they were doing b4 all of the platinum records and mainstream exposure?....they actually had to battle to get the skills they had and RESPECT amongst others with greater skillz than even Emenim that is a part of emceeing as so many try to separate nowadays......).....but b4 making statements about Eminem being able to Rip either of them you also have to consider Eminem had to get well into his late 20's and early 30's b4 gaining any kind of notariety on a wide underground scale and also on a mainstream scale and to actually get his flow down......too bad The 2 legends Pac and Biggie were able to accomplish that WAAAAAY b4 that stage, battling and freestyling as young kids not some jump on the bandwagon because rap is the thing that might get you rich like EM, and who knows what they would have put out by now and if they were here (RIP) I would venture to say that Eminem would never have been able to take as much of the spotlight as he has or the media has given him, I am so glad that you did your homework before making foolish statements to bring out those that do actually listen to not only Eminem but do know the history of some of the Legends that came way before to give the template of how you actually spit the gift....if you have it...but I won't argue this point with you....I know a weak FAD propped up by pure marketing and industry deep pockets when I hear it.....
