technical problem

i have my lap top hooked up, to use for production purposes, but im getting an annoying noise everytime its plugged in.. ( because the power source is right next to the sound card "out")
is there any way to eliminate this, other than running off battery???

Get a small digital out (coaxial or optical) box for your laptop, take the output and plug it into a minidisk or digital mixer to play back your PC sounds....
Should be way cleaner than analog. That jack picks up a lot of noise from the computer...
You could also open it up and soundproof the power supply a little, but I would go for option one...
