It's weird. I was running yesterday on the tred for 10 mins on 7.5 speed and when I got done I was feelin fine. None of my body parts were aching. And then the next day, I wake up and notice and I can't bend my knees that far until it starts hurting or feeling weird. I check my knees and see that both my knees are swollen cuz ususally my knees are boney. Anybody know what's up with my body?

Wow that's odd. Did you just start running? (Have you done it before regularly?) Maybe the cartilage is wearing down, but it could be a lot of things. It doesn't sound right though.

your still pretty young you probably have "osgood schlatters disease"
disease is just the title, its just a type of growing pain that occurs in the knees. I had it back in middle school and the begining of highschool.

and what you said sounds exactly like it. Go to a doctor have him check it out. its nothing serious at all. just swollen knees with a fancy title.

initially it sounds like you may have some fluid build up on your knees, but typically that would occur in just one knee and not both

other than that it may be some sort of joint problem, u should go to the doc and get checked out to make sure its not something serious

is this the first time its happened? do u run often?

if you dont run often it may just be swelling because your knees are not used to that kind of prolonged impact,

next time dont run as long, try maybe 5 min., and work your way up to however long u wanna run

elevate your knees above heart level and put a hot/warm compress on them and if the swelling doesnt subside in 24-48 hours, go see the doc

It's probably just because you don't run enough. And you may not have warmed up enough before you did it. Take some anti-Inflammitories (Asprin, Ascriptin, Tylenol etc..) and throw some ben-gay or icy-hot on your knees and wrap them. If it bothers you to walk then you shouldn't be walking. Remeber this. R.I.C.E. Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation. Trust me it will help you out alot. I kickbox and box and whenever I injur myself I want to heal as fast as possible so I don't have to miss out on training. That's what I do and it works everytime..

cold compresses are used for vasoconstriction which means it causes blood vessels to constrict, which is used for trauma, its used when you have say hit your head and an instant bruise or knot, it clots/constricts the blood vessels so it wont continue to bleed and swell in that area under your skin

hot compresses are for vasodilatation which encourages fluid to return through dialated veins to your heart, in his case its generalized swelling because it didnt occur until the day after so he needs a HOT compress

not trying to knock u Example_one but he doesnt need cold in that situation, he would if he had fallen or in your case kicked on his knees or something like that

I know I sound like Doogie Houser but, I'm no doctor I just have 2 Nurses in my life.....wink....wink

either way if it doesnt go away in 24-48 go see a real DOCTOR

I ususally run that about 3 times a week, but yeah I think it's because of the fact that I hadn't run in about a week (Spring Break haha) before the day I ran. I think that's why it's swollen, my knees weren't used to it or it could be growing pains, either way I'm just gonna take some Asprin and see how it turns out tomorrow. If it doesn't get any better than today then I'm gonna have to head to the doctor. Thanks for the input everybody.

The reason I said wrap it is because the Ben-Gay or Icy-Hot is meant to be used that way. Anytime you injur yourself and use any kind of Linament you should always wrap it (not tight) or enclose it because it makes the linament work the best . I should have been more clear on that.. I didn't mean wrap your knees tightly by any means. I meant wrap them after you put on the Linament or rock like a pair of sweats or somthing. You need to eclose the linament for it to have any effect on you.
