I was listening to some old blues music and i liked how the hihats and snares were kinda off beat but in time, if you know what i mean? I was jus wondering if anybody knows how to get this effect using fruity loops, Ive tried increasing the swing on the drum sequencer but it didnt work, if anybody could help me that would be great. I would give u a sample of what i mean but i havent got anywhere to upload it.

Peace

Set your tempo in the hundreds. Try about 170 and then you can get more detailed with your drums. Space the snare out so it won't sound like its at 170. You know what i mean? Kinda hard to explain but if you don't get it let me know, i'll try to explain what you need more help with.

simple, rightclick the sound in the sequencer, go to edit, choose humanize, click apply and than the sign underneath apply.
it is not really offbeat, but gives that human swing to the hihats, rides and that sort of thing.
I think this is what you meant.

Thats another thing about the Ensoniqs, they dont correct you. So you hafto work real hard to get everything right on. And on the MPC it corrects your timing so you hafto work hard to get shit kinda offbeat.

Just set a four four rhythm of hats, then go into the piano roll, set the snap to none and slightly move the spacing between the hits. Try stuff like (and I quote) ting tingti ting tingti etc

????
don't know.
I do still work with version 3.5 but I think the option has to be in version 4 also.
I did a google search and the way I explained it seems to be the only way to do it.

Best way to work it out is to
- click on the sample to bring up the
- click on Func
- spin the time offset value
this is in fruity 4, you can move beats forward and backward and get em right where you want em...
easy

I think anyone that knows about the offset would us it. Some people double the tempo, some people use the piano roll, but those techniques aren't what actually solve that particular problem. It's not really about swing either. Piano roll may get to close, but offset is exactly what he explained that he need.
