Right now im using m-audio "LX4 2.1 studiophile system" and they work for me. Small with a lot of punch plus it comes with a subwoofer.

the behringer joints are really nice, and affordable too..

http://www.musiciansbuy.com/studio_studio_monitors_behringer.html

My homey has those in his home studio and everytime i hear them i think about how i should have bought those instead of my event tr-6's... DAMMIT!! oh well, im upgrading real soon...

But there are really alot of good monitors out there, u just need to kinda look, listen and read reviews, u know?

How much are u lookin to spend?

If you want to put alot into them (which is smart), anything mackie is nice... There whole line of monitors are dope...

I'm not trying to spend no more than 300, but if they sound that good, that could go up........

say, how would you hook them up to a computer anyway? How are they powered?

Most are self powered meaning you just plug them into an outlet and then run an rca or another type of wire from the monitors to your soundcard.. Also you may need a splitter... This will make it so you can plug both speakers into your one output on your soundcard (depending on what kind you have).. Ya feel me? Hope that helps...

I think those KRK's are your best buy around 150 bucks, I'm definitly not into Behringer, besides being cheap, they're crappy too. 'Good for the price, but not if you need to buy new ones 2 years later. I know I exceed budgets here, but to set an example, a Genelec 1031a set will cost you a $2500( not even starting on the new 31 model ) but will practicly go a lifetime if handled with care. You'd need to buy a hell lot of truths for that amount of rendement ( timewise ), but a lot less KRK's ( KRK is underrated and actualy favoured by lots of studios ).

If you're looking into buying something nice from ebay, look for a Soundcraft Absolute 4p (active) set. These are very good active nearfields ( a pleasure to the ear, does not fatigue on the long runn ) for domestic little bedroom studios and should come in cheaply.

Yeah Form, even after i heard those KRK's nex to tha events i was easily hooked for tha price and rediculous amount of clean response.

Obsidian: You would hook tha KRKs up to yer soundcard via either RCAs or a 1/4 TRS(how i would hook them up to my setup)...And im pretty dam sure theyre selfpowered, cuz if u look at tha back you can see tha poweramp shit.

i got a pair of behringer truth 2031A and they sounded dope but when i turned them on they popped really loud and the limiter came on. i returned them and they confirmed they were faulty so they ordered me a replacement which was going to recieve this week but after hearing that my mate was having the EXACT same problem with his behringer truths and also hearing Formant talk on how shit they are, i decided to fuck the behringers and get krk rokit 8..........getting them tomorrow morning cant fucking wait. fuck behringer.

got the krk rokit 8 the other day. fucking sick shit. nice sound. they have a hi freq level adjust knob so you can set it to the room conditions. no popping when i turn them on. all is fine and dandy and they sound is clear and sweet. i really have to make stands with sand so i can isolate them though cos at the moment they are sitting on a big plank of wood with my decks so i get vibrations if i crank it too loud.

i compared the rokits to some other monitors in the shop and the rokit were the best sound. but then i agree with what i read about monitors on the SOS site which says its not just the monitors but also getting to know your monitors.

anyway, these are dope.

Another important issue about monitors is wether they are tiresome to the ears or not. Might sound weird but in intensive mixing sessions attention, focus which is hard on some nearfields. A good nearfield keeps you producing for longer hours.

Okay, so let me get this straight....

1. Baringer ain't shit
2. KRK's tight for the money
3. Lil Kim's a dirty slut (I'm sure I read that somewhere:))

Thanks a lot fellas. The sound is going to get even better now.....

as far as budget monitors go... i noticed somebody mentioned the Tannoy Reveals... i think those are excellent for the price... although, i do not like the powered ones(green/blue) that much... i actually think that the passive Reveals(red) ones sound allot better with a decent amplifier hooked up... i also feel the same way about the Alesis Monitor Ones... although, the powered monitor ones are not that far off... if anybody has a chance of ever picking up some old Yamaha NS-10's... dont pass that up... they are pretty much the standard out there and make things allot easier to get a good mix out of it... also... look around to see if you could find any used Quested monitors... they sound EXCELLENT!!!... also... as far as the KRK's go... i am feeling those as well...
