Step Sequencer in Sonar, Cubase, or Logic?

Right now I use FL 6.0.8 for my beats and I use a good mix of the step sequencer and piano roll for my beats. Although I know step sequencer is limited for melodies my drums are just so easy to do in there that it's something I don't want to give up.

My question is, is there a similar replacement to the step sequencer in any of the other major programs aside from Reason? I know FL can become a bit limiting at some point and I'm thinking about making the switch to a more professional program but I don't think i could part ways w/ the step sequencer.

Also, one of the other things I love about FL from a hip hop point of view is the list of all my sounds right there on the left side. I love being able to scroll through my whole sound library with my directional keys and hear how each sound would sound over the beat I'm making, so is there an easy way to do this in these programs also? Sorry I know these questions are basic but even when i go to the websites of these products I've had a hard time figuring out if they would work for me.

Nah... nothing else really uses a step sequencer like that.. Cubase, Sonar, Logic and all that good stuff, is "advanced" compared to fl.. Its straight up, play the notes from the keyboard, quantize, and thats that. They do have a piano roll, they usually call it Edit view or something like taht.

And they have thigns like step recording, where u play one note and it records that note, then when u hit the next one it records that note.. it doenst go on without u so u never lose beat. Thats kinda like a tep sequencer.

similare step sequencer build in u can find in reason.(but just for the drums its called REDRUM)
but if u want to use sonar,cubase,logic u need plugins because there is no stepsequencer BUILD in like fl studio.then i would recommend you a VST Plugin called "GURU" from
fxpansion.com that has a stepsequencer that u can use with a VST Host.good luck.
if all this cant help then just stick with fl studio.i use fl studio myself and i tried most sequencer like the ones mentioned.it just has the fastest workflow IMO.

Yeah try Guru.Even if you only get he engine of the plugin
you can use your own samples.Plus load up a drumloop and it will
slice up the loop and put a slice on each of the 16 pads.

With those programs, you can also use FL Studio as a Rewire client or DXI instrument within Sonar and Cubase. This will allow you to create your base beat in FL and utilize the step sequencer how ever you like and have Sonar "host" FL as an instrument. The cool thing is that you open up FL inside Sonar so you can take advantage of both. I usually use FL during the creative process on it's own and then open up FL within Sonar for recording. When everything is set, you can "bounce" FL to individual audio tracks for mixing.
