Static (real static, like electricity static) records

ill o.g.
I get most of my sounds from records, but i just got a box of classical/symphony/orchestra records from a friend. Ive never had this problem before or even heard of it, but the record builds up a lot of static while im playing it. I go to pick up the cartridge and move it somewhere else and i get shocked. I say: damn, i probly just rubbed my feet on the carpet or something. But it happened again. Then again. Then again. And every time i touch the cartridge. And the thing is grounded(Stanton Str8-60), and i tried it with the rubber slipmat that you get on the 1200's, and it still shocked me. Im startin to get a little paranoid whenever i got to pick up the cartridge now.

Does anybody have any solutions, and/or has this ever happened to you?

PEACE

bzzt!!!

ehm, very improffesional but in Europe all radiators are earthlinked, try hooking up a cable from the pick up to the radiator, or if possible like most dj turntables, ground it to the amp.
