I had that for a very short time, I owned a RS 7k previous and had to liquidate it....I was coming up on a project and copped it......the thing that turned me off were the plastic like pads, just like on the fantom...LOL.....and the slow time it takes to load a fuggin sample up......other than that it could probably be a nice piece, don't forget it is a phrase sampler......mean you will not get that same response by loading a snare, hat and kick into it and thinking its gonna come out sounding exactly how you played it in realtime or the patterns are gonna be tight....adding swing to it was lacking and robotic....if your timing might be off don't expect the quantize to help you out much.......anyhow these were things that caused me to take it back because I was searching for a solution in between getting a new piece of gear into the studio.....

wassup Ive been rocking the sp505 since 2002 and its good enuff for me, bigdmakintrax probably did not fully get into the machine but it does everyhting i need it to do.

def recomend it over the 303 cos of the graphic display and sample chopping features.

check my beats to get an idea how the machine sounds, by the way all the stuff on my site is old so i can make the machine sound better than that now.

Yes you can put swing on it but it's not like say an mpc or one or a regular piece I just said it was lacking and robotic.....just like the funky swing in Fruity loops......they all differ I didn't like it.......my swing on my Triton X has a much different result than on my mpc3k and its only about 5 months since it came out.....but it has the ability too go down to percentages of swing and percentages offset.........I still get a piece and becuz I started out with the sp family and the mpc I instantly go into the things that I know I will want to use......nothing still really stacks up.....call it my Biased opinion....whatever works for you I say go ahead and use it............I didn't know it was out in 2002.....becuz the one I picked up from the guitar center about a year ago had just come out.....LOL....are you talking MC-505?....I had one of those too.

Hmmmm???.....Well, i thought yer beats were soundin proper J!...And tha beat sounds non-robotic to me and if anything i wouldnt be able to tell a difference between a mpc made beat and a sp505 beat....Maybe im not hardware educated enough, but it seemed like dope quality to me!?

Hey D: Is tha swing in tha sp505 like reasons swing? If so im feelin that machine cuz i like reasons swing.

Hey man Reason is hot I got lots of beats made on Reason you have to do what ya do though....my biggest problem with the machine are its notorious sample load time into a bank thaz all I wasn't feeling it .....having to adjust the gate time on the samples every time you want 100% gate most of the time...it still reminds me making beats on the sp808 where it has this funky cutoff....you will need to sample phrases like I said in another post...making the straight up patterns off of it aren't as simple as you might think ....correct me if I am wrong but these 2 things for the price of the machine still leave more options.....namely save a little more dough and at least get the MPC1000........go ahead and get it or try one for a few days.....if it's your first hardware piece then really have nothing else to compare it to....it didn't fit my studio setup, the main thing is it is compact....JPEG good work on this piece I applaud you.....oh one more thing Deuce if you like Reason you know there is one aspect....your ability to quickly swap out samples....put down a concept and the interface.....the quality of your Reason Work and the software efficiency will exceed this piece......and both are around the same price if you don't have a bootleg copy.

i will say that some of the operations such as loading samples off a the memory card r slow, but i sample directly into the machine using the RCA ins, so that negats that problem.

as for making drum patterns from 1 shot sounds, it can be done easy, takes a bit of getting used to but all u gotta do is ensure u turn the quantize down to its lowest level.

Thanks Big D, Thats all good info and what i wanted to know, so that helped alot...And like u noted, i figured this thing would be way less superior to reason in that repsect, but it is my first piece of outboard hardware that doesnt hook to tha computer and im lookin for something that can achieve quite similar effects as reason can or better for that matter, but hopefully on a low-budget price....See im not even tryin to absolutely use this as tha center of my studio, its more jus for fun and entertainment, but if it turned out to be dope then i probably would be inclined to use this thing for some parttime production away from whats doen in reason.....You got a lot of good knowledge on tha hardware aspects of my questions since it sounds like u have had ur fair share of HW usage....so i find that u tend to make suggestions about things that i have thought about....that helps alot since were on tha same page - hence, when u dropped tha mention about tha mpc1000, thats exactly what i would really cop, since that was my frst prospect, but its jus way too much and im outa pocket on that one unfortuanatly:(
