the sp-404 is definitely tight and i don't think that demonstration properly shows off it's features. The fella doesn't even talk about it being 24 bit (or use the inbuilt microphone)

this peice will be the first hardware drum machine/sampler/dj effects type peice i've bought / had for years. Batteries and in built mic closed the deal for me (making beats on the train will be the shit busking as well). Can't wait till it is released !!

$395 at sam ash.

i want it i need it. its every thing in one. u can even use the effects on external live sources. so i can make beats on the train with it as 2_nice said. can take it home hook it to my dj set and use as a phrase sampler. use thye onboard effects to manipulate my mixes in real time and even remix and loop on the fly. this shit is a must have for any dj producer especialy if u play out live. and that price aint bad for what it does. it will probably go down soon tho i have a feeling. lol

Yeah, that joint looks tight! Runs on batteries too. That means that I can use it in my tent when I'm in Iraq! Good for on the fly production. I was going to get me a MPC1000 to use as my portable joint but now I have to re-think that.

the setup was like this:

1. backpack full of tapes of all kinds... i KILLED the 99 cent bins when tapes were gettin blown out.
2. the sampler, drum machine combo and two pack of batterys (usually)
3. walkman>sp 202, dr 202/sp 202> "y" splitter>headphones

so i had the walkman running through the sampler and the sampler and drum machine out into headphones. i would sync up the bpm's and go to town. i didnt know how to use midi at the time.

man, i was homeless and all at the time. for a brief minute i stayed in my car. i'd by up making beats all night in the church parking lot. that lasted maybe a month though.

i can honestly that i embodied real passion for this at that time.

the train and hip hop for me are synonimous....... (my spelling sucks hey i never finished school !!)

growing up as a kid i remember everyone used to sketch and plan peices and break down at my local train station and beat box and rap.... and on the train we would bang the walls and under the seat to make a boom bap and freestyle.... that was the hip hop culture i as an australian experienced so it will always be with me (it isn't the same as it used to be kids in puffy shiny jackets and shit that don't understand b-boy culture)

Man, that joint looks dope! I'm going to have to play with it first to see how I like it, is there midi plug-ins? How would that work exactly, just curious.. It wouldn't be like an mpc were it takes all the data directly fro the source though would it? I think I mioght go out and cop this, good price range too, but like Fanotm said, I hope the price drops soon too...

Not bad for the price. I wouldn't mind copp'n that because I do travel a lot sometimes, it wouldn't hurt bringing it on the road with you to kill some boredom. However, it does seem kind of like a kiddy toy. Still, it's a pretty good equipment for less than 400 bucks. It also doesn't seem as big as the MPC.
