can someone really copyright a soundfont that samples the entire bank or one key of sound from a manufacturers keyboard, like say someone sampled the triton and then offers it up but then has a copyright notice in there, this seems illegal for that to be possible, now if you play a riff or sample an acoustic instrument I could see how you could copyright the soundfont and tell someone they can't use it in a commercial recording but anything else I don't see how that can be possible...anyone know?

beats in the techinical sense of the word can't be copywrighted...u can't copywright...drums,kicks,snare,perc effects, etc. u can copywright riffs and melodies and such..... i don't think u can do what u just said.....unles of course the company/person bought the rights from korg... but even then i could't see how they could get copywrighted....because keyboard is royalty free..... only way would be if they called it something diffrent that didint have the triton name in it and they justacted like they made all the sounds themself..which would be lyin but.....
