h i have been using a crappy old yamaha as my non-sample oriented synth source, and thus all of the sounds im using completely suck. i am looking to get a module with some good strings, guitar, piano, etc... to use with my 1k. i dont need a million sounds, but i was wondering if people have any suggestions as far as cost effective modules, to look into. i have been looking at the module versions of some of the keyboards IE triton motif etc... but was hoping to find something that was cheaper with less sounds.... thanks in advance.

Try a Roland Jv-1010 http://www.sonicstate.com/synth/roland_jv1010.cfm I don't really know if the sounds could compare to that of a triton or motif but atleast you would have a better sounding synth.. Plus, these are not used as much as a triton or motif, thus giving you a more original sound.. But here is a really good site for feedback and reviews on older/low budget synths.. http://www.sonicstate.com/synth/

the 1010 is good, but I would look into at least a 1080. I just sold 1 for 200 but it lets you edit the patches on the moudle eaiser than having to deal with the JV-1010. But if you have a little bit more dough get a xv-3080. I got 1 for a little under 500 and its the shit. Plenty of good sounds and it still can use the new SRX cards.

you should get an xv5050 for less then 500

THAT is where you need to be looking- its the last module they made before the x line.
