Something I'm always thinking about when I'm makin beats

I wonder if musicians with a big knowledge or anybody else can analyse your beats and tell if you a real musicians with a real musical training or somebody ( like me) just playin by ear.

I'm pretty shure of it, and you can tho. I was listening to the yesterday's new quintet album the other day and I think that madlib don't have a musical training in the proper sense. He makes great music but you can see that he is not a musician.

does it matter in hip hop it dont matter as long as they make good music that peeps enjoy and that is dope so what?

It doesnt matter at all. Alot of people dont have any musical training.

i think i real musician could tell if someone has had training, yes stuff can still sound good, but it's like anything, if someone is trained in something there will be able to tell if others are trained or not.

Being a classically trained muscian would probably help me as a producer. Then I could work out things like what 'key' a sample is in and save ages of time spent figuring out why my bassline sounds off!!
However, as long as you know what you like and what sounds good overall, then it doesn't matter how you came to producing music.

Sometimes, having no musical training can be even better. If people teach you how to make music, then you have some kind of boundries. If you know nothing and just go with what you feel, your bound to come up with something original and if you are musically inclined, it will be dope too!

I dont know if people can tell if youve had training ....but i dont think it matters that much either.

Good music is good music...whether you learned it or invented it.

I've recently taught my self how to read music, i'm even taking classes in university, in eartrainig and playing keyboard. I'm pleased with my beats, but I know they lack. They can be a lot better.... I have problems making a beat in my head, come to life. Personnaly I like beats which have a lot of different instruments in'em, you guy's know Dj Quick??? that dude's a great musician..... I forgot who produced this joint, but check it out, it's called 10 mins.by Joe budden, damn.

That was White Boy(dub B) that produced 10 minutes

White boy produced most of Joe's album. He's okay actually. I think he's probably going to be a guy to look out for too sometime in the future...unless he's of course already well known in the US and I don't know about it.
