solo sampling/ensemble sampling question

I just wanted to know how most cats flip their samples

I only use one isolated instrument Guitar/bass/drums coz I dont want any interference, and I wanna be able to chop it my way.

Does anyone sample ensembles, i.e. parts where drums/bass/lead overlap ?

and if so how the fcUK do you chop it without is sounding like a catfight ?

I do, i don't really know how to explain it. Its Just something you gotta experiment with.
Depends how it sounds overlapped aswell. I listen cut out what i can use and go from there. All about your Creative ear

So say you got a killa bass sample with some drums stickin through. do you like eq out the drums or just work them into your mix??

any chance you could post a link to of one of your beats where u've used an ensemble as an example?

just pick a song that you are felling the sounds used and just go in and listen to the track and pick the parts that get your attention, and just put them in a midi and just play with it and see what you come up with, you will be suprised

I do that shit all the time. There's no real formula to chopping it. Some samples you could chop up in a minute others take a lot of work with EQing and stuff.

If I'm sampling an ensemble I will sometimes create another copy of the sample and EQ out everything but the low frequency sounds then lay it over the top. That way you get a nice funky bassline that is perfectly suited to the track. You can also mask any unwanted drum sounds by just layering more prominant drums on top of the them.
