aiight i'm messin with the software side right now, fruity loops and the whole computer thing, but i don't want to have to keep upgrading every year or whatever. so i'm gonna eventually switch over to hardware and i just wanted to know, what equipment should i have so that i won't have to worry about anything but the beats? i mean i want to have everything in front of me so that i won't have to keep getting new gear here and there.

i know it's long but any help is appreciated.

I agree with missc803, I say if u ever going hardware get a mpc, depending on your skills it can be used as an all in one device.

have an external hard drive dedicated to music and have and mpc or keyboard(whatever u choose) runnin thru midi to use less ram and less memory and samples our a few seconds so that aint even nuthin as far as disk space...

i also want to record, what equipment would i absolutely need for that?

Well since u want to go hardware then a multitrack recorder. Right now im rockin the Roland VS-2000 and im def lovin it. But all the Roland VS series track recorders are really worth checkin out ONLY if they have the effect cards w/o them they really aint much. But anywayz check out the Yamaha AW16G and others to.

Yeah the mo phat is a nice module also check out the PK-6 out but if u not into the keys then the module of that is the Protues 2000 and that can take the Mo Phat Roms also. So u can have the protues sounds along wit da Mo Phat's sounds to.
