HAHAHA - thats all the shit I was sayin watch out for earlier in this thread!

Dude welcome to the world of stage preformers! I feel you I have had ALL that shit happen to me before, even got boo'd the hell off stage!

You guys will get a good gig and it will feel completely opposite of the way you feel right now and you swear that you'll be playing on sat night live next because the response was so good!
I hate that the first time sucked but it WILL get better.

Like I say it always swings on the sound guy!
Good job on not running away crying though!

Fade that was some good advice as far as turning the crowd!

u guys can still salvage something out of this ... its another item on resume on ur resume ....and a hard lesson in club promotion ..... did u guys get any video footage? .. with the right camera angle and some editing u can make a small crowd look like a packed house lol... like 106 and park... that set is the tiniest thing ever but the cameras make it look bigger than it is..

the only video footage i have is from my wifey and she was in the crowd..... not really any angles of the crowd... It was a big ass crowd though... well to me anyways. There were about 300 + people there...... I took alot away from this experience and like you guys said I'm going to use it to my advantage.

The thing about getting the crowd on our side wouldn't have worked to me, because of how shitty the mics sounded..... I got them shouting our name at first, but I think it was the 25 people who were there to see us.lol. Oh well I seen a couple cats in the audience who I didn't know nodding there head....so that was cool.

Dude, the promoter was a dick. It's on him. He deserves to get the shit beaten out of him.

Look at the positives:

1. You got an "opened for national act WC" on your resume. That's really good. You better post some stills from the show on your MySpace so you have create some social proof.

2. You learned that the sound guy is the key to your show. That's why he needs to be paid off before the show. But, in your case, the DJ was understanding - though the sound sucked. Live and learn.

3. It's tough to take over a crowd (even if you have sound) when they're at the venue to see the headliner. You have to do crazy shit to grab their attention. Like shitting on stage or something.

Anyway, it's a learning experience - try to book more shows though - or throw house parties that have an entry fee - and then do your show.

Don't worry about it - but I would knock out that asshole promoter.

update:

after talking with a few people, shit wasn't as bad as we thought. a lot of people told me they simply couldn't understand us- because they couldn't hear us. my friend said those blank looks were largely (in her opinion) were simnply people trying to actually HEAR us.... but that i shouldn't feel bad at all about that. it wasn't anything we had control over. the missed lyrics wasn't even a big deal because they could barely hear us to begin with.
