Whats up yall, im looking to cop a sample cd with nothing but pure drum hits... I know a lot of you are against buying sample cds and what not, but i would really like some super clean hats/kicks/snares just to layer underneath my grimey shit, it gives my beats a fuller sound.. anyways, can anyone recommend a sample cd with nothing but pure "Hits" or "One-Shots"

i know it exists, some dude @ guitar center showed me one that had about 3000 individual drum samples, but I cant remember what it was called and last time i went they only had these loop cds...

I'm not against it at all. Companies that make sample libraries are making millions so someone is buying them. I just picked up the East West package called NU JOINTZ. It has over 1GB of sounds, 65% of it is drum hits. I'm not much of a software guy but it comes with a modified version of INTAKT so you can loop and alter the samples. I like to work the samples then run them into my MPC4K and mix it with hits I've sampled from vinyl.

I paid $160 CDN for it, so it should be about $90USD. Cheap and very good.

Check you local music shop.

Peace.

You should check out the Akai Backbeat CD's. They're not one-shot hits but they're nice drum loops that are so clean (REAL drums) that it's real easy to chop up. Plus, I always find clean, real drums are way easier to use because you can EQ them to death.

Hey Hoppa. Did you check out the mpc1000 KOTW (kit of the week) on the akai website. They have some good drum sounds. I mainly like the 808 and 909, but there are some good hats and real drum sounds. Bottom line they're FREE!

Check them out here.

I also bought the Nu Jointz shit which has some phat drum sounds, but I don't know if its worth the $90-$120 price tag.

I have some samples from the Abstract Beats Instant Street Kit if you would like to hear them.

Yup, AKAI makes a disc for MPC users with nothing but drums kicks, snares and perc. inst.
I use it. It's not cheating. Look at it this way... It's drum machine sounds without the drum machine!

How clean do you need the hits to be? I mean, I got thousands and thousands of drum hits that you can tweak yourself to get them just how you want and I could sell you a CD for like 20 bucks or something.

My little cousin was showing me some beats he made on Ejays 5. The beats were wack but the drums were suprisingly sweet. Anyway I jacked all the hits from there. I tweak them a little (Compress them, + a little reverb) then I layer them with my sampled drums. Works for me.
