Still not sure what's happening to my beats quality (even though i'm an amateur) between converting out of Mpc and uploading to soundcloud, sure i'll figure it out one day. Anyway here's a little fun one at Christmas time: Can i get some feed back from someone, be brutally honest ( i can take it) as i need to know where and how to improve but no feedback comes, we all have to start somewhere, thanks

I will tell you what to work, it is you who asked !!!!!
- Put Basses on the bass guitar
- All your highs are on the Side, nothing in the middle, suddenly in mono you lose all the clarity of the Sound
- You have more LUFS than a Metal band, I haven't measured but you must be a little "too strong"

Otherwise I like, the mix is well balanced and it's fun like Beat, well done +1

@123studio, thanks for the information and feedback. Had to google LUFS - ‘Loudness until full scale’ - if it’s more than a metal band then I need to tone it down a little. Thanks man

There's a free plugin called Youlean Loudness Meter, and can be downloaded here -> https://youlean.co/youlean-loudness-meter/
More info on LUFS targets can be found here -> https://www.masteringthemix.com/blo...dio-for-soundcloud-itunes-spotify-and-youtube

With uploading to SoundCloud I think you have to target -12LUFS. Also keep in mind that SC automatically changes the bitrate of your upload, resulting in quality loss.

@Andante excellent info thanks i'll study that soon explains the LUFS that @123studio pointed out really well and the difference across platforms and media with soundcloud, youtube, spotify and itunes very helpful. I'd upload then wonder what happened, reload Mpc project and go between the two, frustrating. Well more research for me and hopefully better sounding uploads in future, much to learn and study, thanks

I dont worry anymore about targetting -12 integrated LUFS, I just aim for -8 to -9. Seen too many pros saying the loudness war isnt over and just master as usual. So now I do. The good thing about soundcloud is that you can upload the high quality wav for high quality audio

In you DAW work in 24bits WAV 48khz
Listen to your beat in DAW and same time listen 1 track commercial professional of reference in windows media extracted from a CD
Keep this track for all your future beats as reference
Your sound don't have to be higher than the commercial track, if you have instruments or frequencies higher you have to change the level
Time after time your sound will be harmonized in level

LUFS meters are good, but not reals
they give an average and peaks not the real LUFS second per second
You can exceed sometimes peaks but Soundcloud, youtube etc ... will litterally cut them with limiter
If you are too high on all the beat, all the beat wil be cut so suffocated

For mastering, use a mide-side equalizer to correct image frequencies
and be sure you have all bass under 100hz in mono (all pro do that)
Don't abuse imager because it puts all the high frequencies on the side
Don't forget music is listen on smartphones for 75% of streaming sites
and smartphones are fake stereo : double mono same thing on left and right
Stereo is coming a little on super smartphones but not for all
Your mix so must be good in mono, only after work stereo image

Sorry I am french I don't speak english very good LOL

@2GooD Productions I listen to you on soundcloud and your beats are spot on high quality so -8 -9 to -12 should all be good then. When I export from Mpc I originally used mp3 as to upload here on ILL it’s a small file size but loss of quality. I have used wav, flac and aiff for other platforms, so if your using wav format I will stick with that, thanks

@123studio thanks for that I do not use a DAW just all inside Mpc but do export Wav at 24bit. I probably should try using the Mpc software or some other DAW at some point but am learning the basics of mixing and mastering pretty much mixing it all by ear, will keep at it and getting feedback from ILLiens

Aim for -12 to start with, its easier to achieve without distortion. Getting higher takes some experience in cutting unwanted frequencies, compression and saturation
