Really cool melodies. Love the "drop" at 0:08. I would have preferred it if the EQ sounded a bit less hollow.

EQ is much better. Really nice sound and that (xylophone?) melody is great! The outro is also really chill.

I don't know what you mean by "hollow". I listened to the beat again and I think I need to EQ out some of the top end on the track. It just goes too high and sounds a little annoying at higher levels. Both beats are made from samples. The beats are really just me re-familiarizing myself with techniques for example on the second beat I really wanted to work on that trap slide bass sound (which still needs work) and throwing that low pass filter on the intro and outro. It was a really long time since the last time I used a low pass filter on a section of a song like that, like years and years. I'm brushing up on stuff so I can start putting it all together.

I feel like the beat could use more mids. I think it would give it a warmer feel.

The beats are really just me re-familiarizing myself with techniques for example on the second beat I really wanted to work on that trap slide bass sound (which still needs work) and throwing that low pass filter on the intro and outro. It was a really long time since the last time I used a low pass filter on a section of a song like that, like years and years. I'm brushing up on stuff so I can start putting it all together.

LOL don't go giving me too much credit on 'Penguin', I just threw drums over a loop. Probably whipped it up in about four hours. The other beats on my SoundCloud were six to eight hours of work or more. My real problem I'm dealing with is trying to get into the habit of going that "extra mile". Like for example not putting a beat out until I feel like the mix is perfected.

Anyways, your shit is fire bro. And this isn't like some "he said something good about my music so I return the favor" type stuff. I can't knock what you posted here AT ALL. I like how dense it is, composition has variety to it etc. It's very "Just Blaze-esque" in my opinion. I'm trying to work my way up to your level.

That's kind of what I figured. Thing is none of the beats I've posted are 100% finished in my opinion, which is why I say I need to "run through the tape" so to speak. With that said, I do agree with your post 100%. It's just a matter of how to attack it. I listened to it on a nice sound system in a car and noticed the snare and the hats needed some high end taken off too. Just fine tuning things bruh bruh

I haven't really had to many people listen to my beats yet so its good to hear positive feedback.
