I definitely see the direction you were going in, and it's pretty nice. I think the melody should be put more in the front of the mix though, it doesn't come through enough in my opinion. That bass sounds a little murky on the low end to me, I think maybe you could roll it off just a little to give it a smoother edge? And make sure not to let your kick get overtaken by the bass.

Heres my track

QuoteUnQuote I agree with what spud says, you can clean up the 808 type bass by high pass filtering 30-40hz and also notch filtering out around 300-400hz. And maybe even bring the volume down on it. This will allow the kick more room to punch through. Boosting the kick at 85hz a little and filtering below 50hz will let it work better with less clipping.
The other way of getting the drums to bang would involve parallel compression and maybe even side chaining with the 808 style bass. I really like those military snares, and I like the beat, its just the bass is too distorted.

Spud. I think your guitar sample is too loud, the drums need some room, and the crowd samples are too loud too, but only to keep up with the main sample thats too loud. I think if you dropped the volume on that then everything else will sit much better in the mix.

Thanks man, I have actually went back and started remastering all of my tracks. The headphones I had been using were deceiving, my gf bought a sub for the PC yesterday and everything sounded different, so yeah, fun remaster time.

Spud- Overall, amazing beat! I was jamming to it. Guitar is just a little too loud (in my opinion). Still amazing the way it is though, if that's the way you intended it.

2Good- I can't really say anything that I would change. it all sounds awesome.

Here's one I messed around with. I've only been doing this for about 3 weeks, so I know I have a lot to learn.

raw d - nice little jam, defenitally could use more action, its kinda naked. But the quality is good.
Quoteunquote- your bassline is messed up man, fix that & add some changeups imo.
2good - dope track, you got some nice melodies & I dig the raggae vibe to your tracks.
spud, I pretty much cosign what everyone else has said, stay up though.

ok, I scrolled down and realized quoteunquote has been in the game 3 weeks, that makes more sense.
Just keep your ears open for advice & work on it everyday man, but your low end is super distorted, what are you mixing with?

That mug is bangin fa sho. I like them hi hats mixed with that melody! Had my head shakin!

Raw-D. Sorry man dont know how I missed you, I must have been stoned.
I really like the sample and the drums are dope too, I think the vocal sample is too low in the mix, and it also has a lot of hiss on it, so clean the hiss out of the vocal sample as much as you can, then you can raise the volume of it more.
I would also try to tighten up the timing of the vocal sample so it works more effectively as a hook. I know its a quick one, but if you put a bit more time into this, its a killer.

Medl4. Damn, this track is on some Madlib shit. Mix is on point. The whole thing is on point. Im blown away.
