Yeah getting a manager is a good step if you're looking to get hooked up big time. Of course you'd have to have a good rep first before trying to step to well known artists. I have no idea how you can hook up with a manager tho, sorry. Nice pic!

Unfortunately, the managers with the good connections wont act your manager before you've managed something to get you a rep..but there are a lot of peeps out there who are managers and willing to help you...just ask around...a lot of them just won't get you to where I'm guessing that you want to be.

Start of by pushing your beats to everybody, just throw white label cd's at everybody, just rememeber to keep it simple, don't forward too many beats, incl. your phone #, e-mails etc on everything (the jewel case, the cd etc) because I've heard stories of A&R people who actually liked what they heard, but when the material reached them, only the cd was left no phone # etc was listed.
Go to shows and give your beats away to the artists performing also.

I wouldn't give your beats away
Put a sample cd together with about 1:20 of a few beats and then do the shit mixtape style like " Like your interested in this beat Holla AT me #########" and do that for all the tracks so if they like the beat they can loop ur shit up cuz ur yellin over it and your phone number is right on the track so there is no way they can't contact you.

you gotta take a chance, if some lowlife mc uses your shit for local purposes, fuck him, ruin his name and let everybody know that's your beat (remember to keep a sealed copy). Just cause that lowlife bum used it doesn't mean that you can't still push that beat and if your lucky, some bigtime mc will either purchase your beat or steal it of you and then you just sue...you'll get your money either way. Most likely, if a bigtime mc steals your beat, he'll want to settle out of court to stop bad publicity...heard some of those stories...
If you don't give your shit away, how are anybody else than local cats going to hear your beats???

Connexs..........

I manage a team of producers right now and we are producing some tracks for some majors.............(Minor Acts thoe...)

We are taking a major hit thoe, because we are selling the tracks out right (meaning $3000 for a track and you give up royalties, pays the bills for now).

That's a decision that you have to make, whether or not your willing to do that. Being new to the game with no name leaves you with no bargaining power at the start.

Hopefully our name will get big and we can charge $1.5 million for 5 tracks like Timb and the Neptunes...........

Holla.............

Managers are only good for talking to record execs and giving the A&R 's something to hear it's something good to have because they work for you and can get you in the door and companies will talk to them before you because they don't accept unsolicited material to only thing is finding a goodbecause they will try to jerk you...I have to managers fighting over me one is full of shit and he only wants 15% but the other is a managment company owned by two brothers they have live connects that I know about but they want 25%....I'm just waiting until I stack more beats before I make a decission

Find a local artist

release your own stuff on wax, or cd with a local artist. DIY. Get it in retail. If your shit is jammin', other artists will come to you. You really need a hit to hook up with the big boys.

find out how many people the manager is managing first, then determine if he is really gonna have time to shop you around all these defferent artist and a&r's, because a lot of them will tell you yes just to get the money.
or set up a deal with the manager to were he dosent get paid unless you get a gig or some type of income from his work.
