Seriously Contemplating purchasing this rack, I just copped a new bigger midi keyboard and it's got me wantin some new sounds...

Do you think I should or is there better/cheaper alternatives...

ummmmmm well if you can get it cheap then yeah...... but uh...... soundwise that thing was considerably far behind the Fantom XR and Motif rack... its a pretty old triton sound set.....

class got the fantom xr, he should be able to shed some light there. i think the sounds in the fantom xr are being used more in todays hiphop so would probably be a better choice. ive heard sounds from ther countless times on the radio. motif is more organic, you know, rhodes, brass, acoustic bass, that kinda stuff. the keyboards in the fantom are still killers though.

For $699 u can get the motif rack which is what i got. Dont waste ur time with the trition

If I were to buy a Motif, I'd buy the Rack ES and nothing older of it's series. They've had serious midi instability ( polyphonic shortcoming ) resulting in annoying timing issues. A wasted purchase in my book, they've cleared this issue on the ES Rack.

So, either the triton or a ES Rack, tritons are nice, trinity too ( even the older ones ).
