I have had offers of having my music put onto compilation cds for distribution to djs and media.
At the end of the day, you dont get anything for nothing. Spending a little cash to get a spot on a reputable compilation shows that you have at least some confidence in your own music. If you dont have confidence in your stuff then how can you expect anyone else to. And for the few quid it costs, sometimes its not cheap, but you pay what you can afford. It sure as hell beats trying to get people to hear your stuff on myspace or soundclick etc.
Its targetted to the people that matter, and I would highly recommend it. When I can get some cash together Im going to go down that route with Dirty Cops. But with the amount of expense I need to fork out right now, solicitors, mcps membership, hardware etc its going to be hard work and plenty of overtime at work. But its well worth it.
