aight plain and simple, my research is showin that choppin is the way to go.. but in my reality i'm not seein it..

ex. i made these two beatz..WITHOUT choppin jus doing straight loops..

http://d01.megashares.com/?d01=115818e

i'm not lookin for somebody to tell me how to make beats/music.. but wht i'm lookin for is constructive feedback and input on how a "chopmaster" would have made my beats "BETTER" with choppin v/s me who jus straight looped em...

let me know yal, i'm mad excited to see where this takes me.. my goal is to use this to open up my perspective and MOVE up and beyond jus loopin..

Get a soundclick.com account. I don't think you'll get enough feed back if people have to download the tracks to their computer in order to hear them.

definitely, get an account were people can stream your joints man. some of these download sites are suspect. however, zshare will let you upload and peeps can stream from the zshare site. soundclick is very good if you intention is to share and promote your work.

in terms of the concept that "choppin samples will make for a better beat" is not correct. beat making, music period, is that cut and dry. could someone easily chop and flip the samples you used in your beats..absolutely. could it be better than how you did it, possibly. but the same goes if someone to took a combination of loops from the original songs and made a different arrangement.

i will say, that tweakin samples (be it choppin..changing pitch, etc..) can change the feel of a beat, and there's always the happy accidents where you may here something that sparks an idea and takes you in a completely different direction. sometimes a sample works perfectly just as it is, and for you personally, it maybe best to just to build up and off the loop.

for some cats...when they hear the original sample...they already hear how they want to arrange it, where by choppin, or changing pitch and so forth. sometimes beats will come to you like that..sometimes you may have to play around with a sample before discovering where you want to take it. that's all in the labor of love of making beats tho. enjoy the process. just my humble opinion.

I have to agree totally there. Some great discoveries happen by mistake.
Sometimes if you feel the loop as a straight loop go with it, sometimes chopping can add anomalies to the music, like clicks, especially when chopping in the middle of a high output piece. If I can get away with chopping as little as possible i will sometimes just to keep the overall sound quality nice.
I use recycle sometimes to chop, that way its straight forward. I can do a lot with the resulting rex file, but sometimes its necessary to import the parts into a sampler and further tweak the sounds to make them sound clean, ie try to remove unwanted clicks or edit start and end points or loop or even reverse the sample. The best way to learn is by trying everything, mess around and if you have to read the documentation for whatever software/hardware you use, you might find out about something new that improves the whole sound of your music altogether. Thats the way ive done it, sure it takes a while, but Im comfortable with sampling and composing now.

Just get a chance to appreciate the music you're sampling from, and if you really want to straight loop it a la Trackmasterz / Bad Boy go for it, but it honestly will sound lazy to people that recognize old and forgotten music.

But skid is definitely right, it's about the final product. But it wouldn't hurt to be able to know how to properly chop up a piece.

An addition to my previous post, the chops have to be very clean, ie hit instantly(with no space before the hit point), and not click at the beggining or end. Once the chops are clean they can be quantized and will sound tight. This more than anything greatly improved the overall sound of my sampled tracks.
