Sampling

´Sup, I use a lot of sampling in my beats and I was wondering if anyone here uses or has used both software samplers like Halion and hardware like the MPC series and could tell me which you prefered.

Peace.

I've worked with the an Akai sampler and now work with Reason, with ReCycle, and prefer this option for various reasons.

i like the mpc cause it make me feels like i`m creating when i use it. i tried a couple of software samplers and it don`t feel the same to me when i try to make a beat. plus i have to have both hands involved when making a beat. the mpc can be just as easy as software samplers if you really get to know it.

i've tried using software samplers they r cool, but to me nothing compares to using an mpc.....the hands on feel and just knowing that u have to use ur wits to make that bomb beat....nothing compares to it....and I wouldn't give up my mpc for software...although i use my mpc with software sometimes, I use nuendo 2 for the vst's and recording purposes but sequencing is done in the mpc except for the vst sounds....

software is less expensive and less likely to give you coniptions when it breaks... its easier and more nimble to use... and lets face it... its the future of music production. Might as well get on the bandwagon while its hot.

is use the mpc60 strictly for the drums, as far as sampling other sounds, i use kontakt, and am currently looking for something better. Anyone knows of an actual software sampler that can sample? i mean actually record stream in?

Why don't you just record in your audio editor (cool edit, sound forge, wavelab etc..) then save, and open it up in Kontakt?

Yeah that's real Lav. It's the future. Companies will push the software more cuz it's cheaper and everybody can afford it. Akai should make a MPC software sampler sequencer to go with the MPD-16 pads. I know i'd get it!

how about this?? i use cool edit to chop my drums, i may get a mpc 1000 for kicks i suppose, but how about choppin on the computer then loading to and mpc or other hardware sampler for the hands on sequencing? i love editing it on the computer b/c you can zoom in/out with ease, ect.

yea thats what i do cause im so used to choppin samples on my pc and cause the mpc4000 works nice with a pc so u can just transfer the wavs via usb. im more comfortable choppin the samples on the pc cause its a big monitor and u can see what you are doin better but the 4000 is real nice on its own you can do it all on there too. but im just attached to software samplin.

Ive used both, a computers a definite plus if u like working with everything up on a large screen and to move around with the mouse and everything, but some people prefer the MPC becasue samples are supposedly easier to chop up and easier to work with in the MPC.

I think if have the cash I would use computer software with a hardware sampler. But I wouldn't use a MPC, I would use a ASR X. Whatever you can afford because software is basically free, but you didn't hear that from me.

You need both, I use Audio Audition (Cool Edit Pro) and a MPC 2000. The mpc has a total different swing than on any software.

Wavelab and NI Kontakt all the way, alltho im savin up for a MPC-1000 to get the whole "Hands On" approach , I think combining the both is the best u can get, best of both worlds

I sometimes use wav editors to chop samples up and then use mpc editor to setup a program and save it to a zipand pop it into the mpc real quick.....I have also used fruity loops for the beat slicer to chop up a sample it's instant chopping without the work

i never liked mpc's until i tried the mpc 4000 with a computer. you can click and drag files and dont have to waist time loading your samples to the mpc. i cant whait till i get enough money to snatch one up, and it brings its own software to be intalled in your computer.

that goes to show that even the mpc's are leaning towards computers
its a beautiful thing man.
