use the Solidtube mic so it covers for the tube presence, then it goes through a focusrite compounder. On a software tip, I use amplitube and Vintage warmer to beef shit up.

ill give you a trick a old head gave me... i use a 4 head VCR and a EQ after my final mixes and shit is all done i run the mix through a EQ first then the VCR for that old school warmth. if you have never done this try it im sure you will like it.

PS if the vcr has a digi out thats even better for gettin back in the PC but its a whole lot fuller.Good Luck.

Triton Extreme has the Exact Tube Amp used in a pro studio....It definitly adds warmth and Punch....if you don't use it correctly it will make your bass and lows muddy....but what it does I have used the tube in Cubase and T-racks....the soft tubes Simulate closely...but they are in different leaugues...being inferior...to that real analog Tube circuit...

i was thinkin something along the lines of a drawmer tube station etc, they pricey. but i hear real good things.. but id like to hear one side by side with Vintage Warmer vst...

a VCR eh ? wouldnt have thought that would give much warmth...
seems like alot of effort...

if you are going for the whole tube boosting/adding adding 'musical' harmonics thing (which is what tubes/valves do) i personally would look at something more 'dedicated' for a bus send (especially when you are working in a digital environment you could have a send of say -6db doing to your analog processor and the rest unaffected) to reduce the noise introduced from their circuitry (best of both worlds).
no question asked the best thing is the METASONIX TS-21 HellFire (if you have cash for the drawmer get this IT IS BETTER FOR YOUR NEEDS !!) less noise more 'controllable/shapeable sound'
you can get both filtering and overdrive effects with boxes like akai's mfc 42, the peavey thing (forget the name i'm actually thinking of getting one soon for aud $200) the sherman or vermona boxes or if you're cashed up the MUTRONICS MIDI Mutator.
my 2 cents more options less noise better results with a dedicated unit in a send !!
