Roland Synths Or Racks

I have reading so articles on them and found a lot of producers using them for r&b beats. Do they provide great urban sounds? I've heard a lot about the jv-1080 but has never gotten the chance to hear them at the music stores. If ya'll know any about the roland synths and racks then give me a shout.

The xv 3080 is a good module I had it and it has a lot of tough sounds in it at the time I was using the asr-x along with the roloand xv 3080 but the midi on the asr-x is scwred up so I took it back to sam ash and got an mpc2000xl......

welll.... the 1080 is cool, but the sounds are a little worn. are you looking for effects, features, etc? or mainly the sounds? if it is just the sounds, save money and get the jv1010- it contains the whole soundset from both the 1080 and 2080. it can be a pain at times to use, however. you may want to look into the xv 5050.. the sounds are great, a smaller 5080 (isnt the 3080 as well?) but what qualifies as an "urban" sound? personally i would recommend the motif rack, but the most realistic thing i could tell you to go out and try them out for yourself. isnt that what you told that kid on futureproducers.com?

Yea of course I remember telling that kid that but like I said I never had the chance to use them. And I am looking for sound not effects. I don't care about effects.

a jv 1010 will run you 400 new, 150-300 used, with around 1400 sounds. the reason i brought up what you said to that kid was because he essentially asked the same question, and you responded very rudely. just thought i would show you how the rest of reply to these types of questions. we're all here to help each other. how much money do you have? the roland synths are good quality, and they are the best as far as consistancy and product support, add ons, options, etc. no one else can match their expandability. the motif rack is soundwise the best all around piece out there, but liike i said, you need to find a way to check them out for yourself, because we all have different opinions and what sounds good to me might be worthless to you.

Hey,
I own both the 2080 and the 5050, they're both awesome machines for whatever you do. You'd better get a copy of Sound Diver to program them though, or else you'll be stuck using the presets or programming them from the front panels. The 2080 has a big screen on it which makes progamming a lot easier, but the 5050 only has a small LCD screen which is a real pain to program with. The 5050 ships with an editor, but it is slow to use.

i know, that the roland juno 106 is a real great
synth for warm basses, indeed it´s analog.
