how bout this... i never bought an authentic or a fitted... oh wait yes it did, but that before they started looking like buckets on peoples heads... but another thing i dont follow the trend as often as maybe u think ud be suprised... never did i say that one should conform to the trends of everybody else... all i said that how u present urself is how people will imgae u... and its up to u how u want to be judged...u are wut u wear keep that in mind so why not aim for the best... it dont make sense to dress average if ur above average let people know that u are an indentity not some average joe... and by no means should u cop gear just cause it was rocked by another... get it because it fits you... anyway i get gear cause i like it and it flatters my persona... i hardly watch videos in fact i hate them just because of the fact that everybody seems to be the same... but i have to admit that when i walk into a store and see some hot shyt im going to wear it and im going to make it look damn good... feel me?

to do any less for ur appearance would be uncivilized. lets be real here... ur cahnces of getting noticed are much greater if u wear clothes that exemplify ur persona to its fullest potential... thsoe of u who would rather hide behind average gear .... be my guest and do so... as for me... (cause i can only speak for myself) id rather be noticed and take the heat... in taht way do i get the impression onto people that im serious about who i am... and that automatically garners respect...

naw thats not old news...yet.... my thing is... if ur not being urself when u walk outside then it wont matter wut the hell u are wearing.... as long as ur not comfortable with ur own identity people will pick that vibe up from you and react accordingly... and clothing is just an addon... it solidifies who you are... lets face it... people judge on ferst appearances (impressions as they call it)... and when i say people im also meaning u as urself... they way u picture urself is the way u project urself to others... so why not spoil oneself with outside gear that will exemplify who exactly u project urself to be.

i dont dress like i do around the house when im outside. people cant see inside of my mind... they have to get past my outer shell ferst before they even glimpse that avenue... and the only way you can began to discover another is thru ferst veiwing them from a distance... even before u hear one's voice or smell one's scent ur eyes have picked up their motion, their style, their color scheme.... so why not make wut they see something that u have pride in... shyt i could care less about wut u wear... its your life and therefore its ur decision...

put it like this tho... walk thru a certain neighborhood looking like a scrub and u'll get beat down... walk thru another neighborhood looking like a baller and u'll get beat down... all that to say... it dont matter wut u rock... somebody's always gonna hate on it and somebody is always gonna love it... but i will say this amke sure wutever u rock its unique to you...

remember that denim craze awhile back... everybody was wearing the jean jacket and denim pants that shyt was tite at ferst but that shyt started gettin rocked by everybody... then it just faded out... nowadays the thing to wear is a white tee... that shyt i never did except for when i was real yung and didnt know any better... i mean when everybody look and dress the same u can be mistaken for anybody...

say a nigga met another nigga who messed wit his gerl in the street rocking a white tee... but he only glimpse the back of the nigga cause he ruinning up the bloc... now the bol cahsin him wit a gun and terns the corner and sees 3 niggas all rockin a white tee and the same jeans and the same cornrows... who the nigga gonna shoot... shyt he could shoot yo ass just for looking like the nigga that fucced his ma... while the real nigga is down the bloc watchin yo ass get popped.

l-rock, i kno what ur sayin about dressin for success and reflectin how u wanna be but there are so many people like myself who love hip hop and hate the current mainstream situation wear everyones rockin the same style shit and raps that same bullshit.. its like poeple are too afraid to try somethin different because, like u said, they think "no one will take you seriousely" Don't "keepin it real" mean be yourself? well bein myself would mos definately not b rockin phat farms.. Im sure theres alot more epople out there than u think who would dig someone who was rockin clothes that they wear. I'd b like "damn i got that same shirt, I relate to this fool i wanna check out his shit"
I mean theres always gunna b fads and i'm not sayin u follow the crowd by rockin whatever it is that u rock.. but why would u wanna sport somthin thats jus like all the other woudn't u rather stand out a little? Maybe not every day street clothes I'm down with wearin nice clothes and all jus unique shit. You can be fly wearin whatever u like.. Im an average joe and hope to always stay that way jus with a gift of makin ill shit on records i'm not tryin to b michael jackson.. i think hella poeple would dig that as long as i came tite. Music should b jus about the music but i realize that its not anymore its about the artists image and luckily theres alot of poeple out there who share my views and thats gunna b who i market my shit to, maybe everyone else will follow

Shit! When i judge someone i just go by these simple guidelines:

1. Is he/she a nice person with a positive attitude who i would want involve myself with?
(DOES ETHNICITY, COLOR, ETC MATTER??? NO!!)
2. Does this person have proper ideals which i agree with?
3. Do we have anything in common?
4. Tha rest is simple...

I dont give a shit about tha rest - i really dont care. If yer a real person that shit shines through that insignificant stigma that people have. If your a proud person then others can see it when you pass by in your walk and your smile, etc...You dont need flashy objects and clothes to gain peoples respect....And fuck tryin to get everyone to accept you anyways!!! This world iz waaaaay too big to not have a bunch of assholes who arent goin to like you for one fucking reason or tha other...

If i even have a pet peev about anything regarding judging other people that would have to be hygene.
Thats about my only setback in accepting certain people.
If you fuckin smell or dont wash your clothes...Take a fuckin bath and go to tha goddam laundry matt and by some freakin soap!!!

Other than that im cool with anybody and whatever tha fuck there wearin'.

Like i said, its whats in tha manz mind that counts.

i like the special emphasis on the "."

anyway... yea i basically agree with all of yall... there are vivid and viable points being made thru-out this issue... i just wanna point out taht no matter how u judge others they wont be judging you in the same manner... and ferst impressions are a bitch but hey thats what people ferst see and thats how they remember u... i dont suggest hiding behind your gear i suggest using your gear to get your foot in the door... i remember back in the day i used to enjoy wearing 3 peice suits and all that and i would get mad props cause nobody else had enuff clout to step out and do that... same thing today tho... just on a lesser scale... wutver it is that i wear i know that there isnt a soul near me that rocks it like i do... there may be another person in this werld with the same hoodie i have but the person underneath that hoodie can never be me... therefore clothes are only one half(or evne a quarter) of the equation and the rest is up to u to fill in...

Ill only say this:

There are many other people out there just like me who will accept what i look like at first glance just tha same as i judge them.
Its not like these people dont exist. Maybe you just have never had tha opportunity to meet someone like this.

This is the kind of people who i choose to surround myself with as well.

I would feel really akward if i was always around a mtv fashion show(so to speak)...It would just be wierd. I wouldnt feel like anybody is really even sure of themselves as to who they are as an individual.?? Its like a bunch of walking-talking robots who are all programed with tha same criteria: Dress this way. Act this way. Talk this way. Buy these brands.

Whatever dude. Shits just wierd.

Fuck wearing anything just to fit into a certain scene or a certain group.

I think that this thread has a lot of different opinions because the people on this board are very different from each other. And that my friends is what, if anything, is going to keep this movement moving.

Ive known people in the past that were never true to themselves and comfortable in their own skin, that were always trying to "fit in" to a certain group of people. I saw one person in particular going from baggy clothes wearing hip-hopper, to thrift shop clothes wearing emo-kid, to all dark clothing wearing goth chick in the matter of one year.

If you ever find yourself in this situation, consider yourself herded, because you aint nothing but a sheep.

and oh yeah, Self Confidence makes anything look good on you.

well i'm in high school and you get judged by :

1. what clothes you wear
2. how you look
3. your grades
4. who you talk to
5. every little obscure thing possible and more

what i feel sorry for is those kids parents who pay like $300 for a throwback. some kids dont even know the player, try so hard to be cool, and STILL dont get accepted by the "popular kids".... that really sucks but its a reality in high school... its so tough here.....

"its true its true"

outside appearances are the only thing that people initiate converstaion based on. if u look scrubby u get treated scrubby. u can be a totally different person then the way u dress but hey people cant read ur mind so unless u talk to them they will assume that u are who u dress as. bottom line.

i havnt read every post in its entirety since this isnt that important to me but i tend to agree with Deuce on this one.

True, poeple will judge you by what you wear.......but who would want to be around poeple like that. They are the kinds of poeple who "come and go"

Bigfatheadmole:

For those reasons you said is exactly why i hated highschool.
Honestly man, highschool is bullshit.
Everyones figuring themselves out and acting all akward looking for acceptance in a group they might fit in...Its all bullshit man, you just gotta get past that or follow tha herd.

When i was in highschool it wasnt any different. Shit like that doesnt change, same goes for tha way kids can act and treat you like shit...
Thats a timeless thing man, it does go away though...Of course, yes. there are tha idiots who will continue not to grow and mature - and for that reason theyll stay tha same narrow-minded fuck heads that they were in highschool.

Yo man for real if you care about who you are and what you stand for - than do what makes you feel happy and fuck tha rest of everybodies lame ideas of whats cool and how to fit in.

Hell, create your own group...Ive honestly figured out that when it comes down to it, you really will probably never be able to count tha amount of real friends on one hand in this lifetime.

Do whats important to you.

ey duece u make some valid points... as for me i went to a private school that had a requirement to wear blazers and khakis... and in the spring polo sherts and khakis... but anyway in high skool there really wasnt a group that i could attach myself to... i was wildly popular behind the scenes (or so i thought)... and i basically was a trailblazer setting the example for my classmates and definitely giving cool tips to my fellow black classmates there was about 6 of us althogether in my class of 75... so basiaclly everybody was on their own stee-lo... it was a really competitive skool so really nobvody really had a clique that they were attached to it was every man for himself... especially for us black kids... it was already a hard skool to get by in due to its high werkload and all that other shyt... but anyway one thing that skool did teach me is that "individualatity" comes forth in times of adversity... when u have had it and are sitting rock bottom thats when ur true colors show... at that point clothes just become an accessory. Accessory as in another form of expression.
