RnB Producers

Are there any RnB producers here at Illmuzik. If so would some of yall please tell how you usually go about making you RnB track I'll start
1. Play a chord progression
2. Add Some Drums
3. Melody
4. Bass
5. Strings
6. Percussion

Also Has anyone seen the tutorial on todaysbeats.com when TJ was going to tell which instruments better accuentuate male and female vocals for singers. He was going to tell how it's better to use certain instruments for a male opposed to a women. If anyone has seen it would you mind as to tell me what those instruments was. My account was finished right before he finished that tutorial thanks in advance

i usually go through the steps u listed there, but alternate between them numerous times, so sometimes ill start with drums then chord progression or vice versa.

once i find the key signature i wanna make the beat in, i lay down the choard progression, then i come up with a couple of varations and a bridge...

r&B generally starts with chord progression for me like you listed but sometimes its the drums first or a synth depending

To make an R&B song to me is YOUR style/sound.Its not what other producers do,and/or the process of how they make it.Over the last 10 years theres been various approaches to making an R&B song and the only things that havent change about it is the feel/feeling,...Blue's.Say for instant,i start my track off with usually a chord or a couple of keys plays.Just cause thats what makes your track real R&B,its the feeling sad/down-med tempo or happy/uptempo of the main instrument or ments. Also ive noticed from making quite a few,dont force it,creativity, just let it come out naturally,or else your mood will come out and its usually not what you want or it could have been.Before i start an R&B song i actually listen to ,classic or current R&B songs for an hour or more just to get my mind in the right place of thought.

I agree with TKNK. Don't try to force the music out.... it's just gonna start sounding wack. Just feeel it ya heard!

I usually start with a chord progression, then go play something with the strings or bassline next. Then some guitar or other instruments to accent what's goin on. There are no rules to it though, go with what you feel needs it! Make it all consistant and the sounds "accent" each other.

man, to me, R&B is primarly based on internal emotions, thoughts, or feelings that YOU as the beatsmith/producer want to express by laying down a track or song... Me personally, whenever something that I believe can touch someone elses thoughts, feelings and emotion, then I usually write what ever that idea was down and I quickly jump on it, whether it's a chord progression or whatever... When it comes to R&B I don't just think of R&B as something you just do cause it suppose to sound slow or laidback...I do it from my soul if you feel what I'm sayin...I don't ever do an R&B track unless something unique comes to mind, meaning that if it ain't gonna touch the listeners mind, body, thoughts, emotions, etc, then I usually don't work on an R&B track...It's really based up to YOU as to how you want your "R&B" track to be made...Also, there is no protocol that states, "This is how to make and R&B track." You'll never see anything like that...I'm done...
