Hey,

What?!? Good luck finding out the tempo of an acappela using ANY software...if I'm wrong about this, please forgive me.

The most accurate way is to find the original track with the music, then figure out the tempo of the music. This you can do easily in Recycle or Cool Edit.

Acapellas don't have the same rythmic patterns that percussion has that programs like Recycle need to figure out tempos; the music will though.

If you have a MPC 3000 just use the Tap Tempo button with the acapella.... every song has tempo. I play drums so it might be easier for me, but that how I do it.

vitaminman you're exactly right, there are 2 ways for software or hardware to detect tempo, one is by counting the bass hits, two is by counting the snare hits. Neither one will give you an accurate count on vocals unless the each sound is on the beat. The best and most accurate way to do it is like Mad Scientist said. If you don't have a MPC then your next best choice would be to purchase a metronome.

I usually get a copy of the whole song too (with the beat and everything)...then I load it in Acid 4.0 and determine the BPM there. When you know the BPM of the original beat you know the BPM of the acapella.

the best way to do it is

open up the full song with the beat in cool edit, then chop up 1 or 2 loops...open it in fruityloops...lay drums on top to match it until it fits...has worked perfectly every time for me so far
